One of the oldest living things on Earth
 In the White Mountains in Inyo National Forest - California, at approximately 11,000 feet are the Bristlecone Pines.
 This photo of a Bristlecone Pine tree is in the middle of an area of

one of the oldest living things on Earth. In 2004, the trunk was checked for age, approximate date: 4,770 years old.
 When you go to view the Bristlecone Pine trees, the Park Rangers will not tell you exactly which pine tree is the oldest because someone may do it harm. But they will direct you to the area where it stands.
 This tree might look dead, but it is alive within the bark.
 To visit the Bristlecone Pine Trees is amazing and to walk among them and try to imagine how old they are is unbelievable.
