You say tomato, I say tomato sandwich. I grew up on the tomato sandwich. Coming from NJ, where the famous Jersey Tomato arises from it was always a refreshing and delicious sandwich. Then there is the tomato and cucumber salad and of course the BLT. As I sit here eating a delicous tomato sandwich, a tomato that I grew in my very own screen house with bread that my wife made I am hearing the news in the background talking about the salmonilla problem with tomatos. Wow, what a scary thought to think that if I bought that tomato from the store it could be poison. When I was a kid I always had a section of the back yard that was my garden. I loved growing and I loved that my mother would use what I grew for the family. Moving to Hawaii, one of my biggest thrills is being able to grow all year long. I grow lettuce, tomatos, cucumbers, mangos, pineapples, bananas, peppers, green beans. All of the things I like the most. Some of these were not as easy to grow here as ... more
