I've been reading many articles lately about blogging, how to's, advice, what to say, what not to say. I've read AR blogs protesting articles that are not strictly about real estate. I've read jokes, posts about family issues, romance stories, dog stories and much more.
I have been asked by many people recently to help them get their Active Rain site up, and advise them on blogging. And as always, the most valuable advice that I like to give about blogging is to just be yourself! Don't try to write as if it's a featured article in the Wall Street Journal. Don't worry so much about how articulate you sound, or how many big words you use. Don't worry about trying to impress others. And most of all, don't worry about what criticism you may get from your article. I wrote a praise story and someone actually commented negatively on it. You can never please ALL the people, ALL the time.
Just be yourself. Write as if you are talking to someone. Tell the story or write just like you feel it. If you feel the need to write about your dog dying..then go ahead! Blogs are supposed to be informative, and ... more
