Weathering Fay at X04!
For the last four days we have all been dealing with the impact of Fay at the Orlando/Apopka Airport (X04).  Early in the week we were busy hangaring five South Florida Aircraft who were getting out of the way of the storm.  We were also working to get some local aircraft, which do not have hangars, into one for the storm. 
We have been at the airport everyday this week keeping an eye on our client's hangars, and our own.  This is only the second time we have seen any amount of water in the GIGANTIC retention ponds.  Even so, it was just a layer of water on the bottom. 
The entrance road remained passable throughout the week.  This morning there was a little standing water at the lowest point, but only a few inches.  Not near the problem many areas have had around Central Florida.  Ron met a poor fellow at OAA today who cannot get out of a nearby airport where he put his plane for the storm.  The runway is too wet to use.
It sure feels good to know that our plane is safe when weather moves through.  We are also happy we were able to help ... more
