Hispanic Festival Downtown Augusta
Augusta natives as a whole takes part each year in the Annual Hispanic Festival downtown. This festival has welcomed Hispanics and non-Hispanics alike for a decade and a half. The Asociacion Cultural Hispano Americana sponsors the event, and this will be its 16th year of celebration and it has come to be known as the Hispanic Festival.
For almost an entire weekend, Hispanics are the majority. The festival is the ideal ethnic gathering place. Furthermore, the festival sheds some light on the culture and traditions that non-Hispanics might otherwise neglect to appreciate.
For two consecutive days, the Augusta Common undergoes a transformation. It's filled with Puerto Rican dishes like pasteles, mofongo and rellenos de papa, Mexican dishes like tamales and fajitas, and Panamenian dishes like chicharrones and empanadas.
Music from Reggaeton, rap, R&B, Pop, Soca and arts and crafts to folklore and games. And also there is a Latin dance contest and Miss Latina Pageant.
This year's festival was sure to be a fantastic blast. If you missed don't fret it will be around come this time next year.
