Keep the Cart in Front of the Horse - Diabetes Awareness Month
My family had the pleasure of being interviewed by our local newspaper today in light of November being Diabetes Awareness Month. Our 14 month old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in May, and they felt that we would be good spokespeople for the cause.
It wasn't until after the interview that my comments and insights started to bounce around in my own head. In our limited amount of time, I'm sure I missed some important details. Just for the sake of sleeping tonight, I will get them out here:
1. I could not continue in the demanding career of real estate without the help of my mother. She is not only a Realtor, but one of the few people brave enough to learn how to do the injections, blood glucose tests and all the other aspects of caring for a child with diabetes. I call and she says "clients or kids?" and then steps in and helps wherever needed.
2. We have an amazing day home provider. She is one of the few that has learned all that is involved and treats my kids as if they were her own.
