Don't Let Winter Travel Catch You Off Guard
Putting Together a Car Emergency Kit
We spend many hours driving in our cars, so there is a good possibility that an emergency or disaster could occur while in the car.  Even if a natural disaster does not occur, car emergencies happen every day.  Without the right supplies and tools you could become stranded.
If you are building your own roadside emergency kit there are some things you will want to make sure and include:
•·         Jumper Cables
•·         Shovel
•·         A Good Pair of Gloves
•·         High Calorie Food Bars
•·         Emergency Water Packets or Bottles
•·         Warm Blanket or Sleeping Bag
•·         Flashlight and Spare Batteries
•·         Tow Rope or Chain
•·         Roadside Flares & reflectors
•·         Sand, Cat Litter or other Grit in a plastic milk carton
Think about the different weather situations that you could encounter in the car.  If you live in a colder climate, you should build a winter survival car kit and it's not a bad idea to carry a warm sleeping bag in your car in case you become stranded or stuck in the snow and have to keep warm.
