Palatka, Florida - The Bass Capital of the World
Palatka, Florida? Where the heck is Palatka, Florida? Let me say first of all, I am a Realtor but not in Palatka. My home and business is located in Brevard County, Florida. Thta is Florida's Space Coast, Cocoa Beach, Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral.... you know the general area. Only about 45 miles from Orlando......Mickey's hometown! OK, why write about Palatka?
Its my hometown. It is where I am headed for the weekend.  A great little town with about 10,000 or so residents. It is located in Putnam County. Some folks know it as "The Bass Capital of the World." Located about 50 miles south of Jacksonville, about an hour from Daytona, 30 miles from the oldest city St. Augustine,, Palatka is central to a lot of places. Lest I forget, it is about 40 miles east of Gainesville, home to the University of Florida (Go Gators).
Palatka is still a small town. Downtown you find a sleepy little main street, St John's Ave), a city dock at he St John's River, the County Courthouse in the center of town.
