real estate: What? FED Encourages Banks To Rent Foreclosures! - 04/07/12 04:09 AM

Here is some extraordinary real estate news on the horizon you may have missed on this Passover and Easter weekend when everyone’s attention is on family, community and faith. Our Federal Reserve chose to encourage banks to rent their foreclosed properties by issuing new guidelines. If you missed this news, I am sure you are not the only one.The new policies apply to banks who own real property or are about to own homes in distress from the bank’s perspective. It appears the Fed has endorsed an opportunity for banks giving them the option to rent their foreclosed and distressed properties … (11 comments)

real estate: What Are 9 Out of 10 Home Buyers Doing? - 02/19/11 12:09 PM

Now if this image were a billboard in the sky, perhaps more Realtors® would stop and pay more attention to where real estate buyers are online and what they are doing there. Today, according to the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), more than nine out of ten home buyers use the internet as the search tool of choice at the start of their home buying process. In 1995, it was only 5 percent or 5 out of 100!
Today, some Realtors® get it and have jumped into the online pond with websites, blogs and email. Others are still looking at … (16 comments)

real estate: 4 Escondido Mountain, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87508 SOLD - 01/10/11 07:57 AM

One of my residential listings, a nearly new home located at 4 Escondido Mountain in the Rancho Viejo subdivision of Santa Fe, New Mexico has been sold. Location, condition and price were keys in making this sale happen in less than 90 days. The home was NOT a short sale or bank owned or about to be a foreclosure. It had been on the market with another agent/brokerage for 208 days, prior to the seller seeking my services. The asking price was $332,000. New Mexico is a non-disclosure state and the sale price can not be disclosed.
Its many features included: … (4 comments)

real estate: Seeing Real Estate Advertising Differently - 07/11/10 03:40 PM

For some time, I have been wondering what would happen or could happen if real estate advertising changed from endless pictures of homes in a rectangular boxes to something excitedly bold and different.
I created this image this evening to find out. In my wildest imagination, people will come to Santa Fe, New Mexico to see if this home actually is in the clouds. There would be an increase in tourism and our local destination economy could generate more jobs and more real estate sales. Or, an online buyer surfing real estate sites in the middle of the night would decide to relocate … (21 comments)

real estate: The Santa Fe 400th! - 09/05/09 09:48 AM
Today is the start of the Santa Fe 400th and the official beginning of Santa Fe, New Mexico's 400th year! The celebration begins with VIVA Santa Fe this weekend and the party continues for the next 16 months commemorating the lives, stories and diverse cultures that make Santa Fe the oldest capital city in the country. I am certain Don Pedro de Peralta would be amazed and proud at how the "villa" he began in 1610 looks 400 years later. More on what happened to Santa Fe real estate during the past 400 years. Now it is time to party!

real estate: Remembering Inauguration Day - 04/12/09 09:10 AM
Today, I received an email from yet another Realtor who told me 2008 was horrible. I wrote back to encourage them to act out-of-the-box as the landscape of real estate had changed along with the downturn in the economy and the housing market. Then I began to wonder about how we can help each other adapt to the changes in our industry? I remembered how excited I felt on Inauguration Day when everything seemed to stop and people were microblogging on Twitter and Facebook nearly nonstop about their emotions, dreams and hopes.
Now it is the middle of April and perhaps … (5 comments)
