santa fe: I Love Santa Fe because... - 03/07/15 05:47 AM

The gift of seeing the sun rise over the Sangre de Cristro mountains in Santa Fe is often where my day begins...looking east at dawn for what nature will paint in the sky next. And this is one of the reasons why I love Santa Fe. There is something special in seeing the sun rise. The experience makes me want to pass it forward.  And today I learned it inspired someone to pass an act of kindness forward.
After the sun rose, I found myself in a downtown parking lot looking at my "to do" list to get my brake … (6 comments)

santa fe: A Picture Is Worth More Than A Thousand Words On Instagram - 06/23/14 09:08 AM
Earlier today I wrote a post about what happens when you leave the screen of real estate and look around at what nature has to offer outside your door. The lead character in the blog A Natural Beauty Discovered in Santa Fe New Mexico was a prickly cactus yellow blossom. What I forgot to mention was the rest of the story. Since I made the photo with my iphone, the first thing I did next was post it on my Instagram site. Why? I have been intrigued by the fact that the Instagram app is beyond easy to use and an … (4 comments)

santa fe: A Natural Beauty Discovered in Santa Fe New Mexico - 06/23/14 07:49 AM

A lot can happen when you leave the screen of real estate by walking away from your computer or laptop or ipad. If you can focus on one thing for a moment and look around outside, the odds are you will discover something new and most likely amazing if it comes from nature. This is what I found. A true natural wonder. This prickly pear cactus decided to stop me in my tracks with one of her many yellow blossoms. My next move was to take out my iphone and pretend I was a bee gliding in for an aerial … (5 comments)

santa fe: A Santa Fe Train Track Story - 06/01/12 09:16 AM

It was only due to the vision and quick thinking of those pre-Statehood Santa Feans that railroad tracks first arrived in Santa Fe in February of 1880! New Mexico was still a “territory” back then and it was through the collective efforts of our territorial citizens who made certain our mountain community would not be without tracks and train service. They made it happen the old-fashion way by subsidizing the effort themselves. There was no federal stimulus package or state government economic development plan to make this a reality. Santa Fe was only a territory of the United States! The … (9 comments)

santa fe: What A Difference A Day Makes - 04/02/12 12:13 PM

What a difference a day makes... in real estate and in Santa Fe weather. On Sunday, April 1st, 2012, I wore sandals and spend the day behind the camera making images of our remarkable early spring in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Today, on Monday, April 2, 2012, a day later or as the song “What A Difference A Day Makes” made famous by Dinah Washington says twenty-four little hours, it is snowing! What a difference a day made and instead of it being “you” as the story goes in the song, it is Mother Nature. She clearly has her own … (8 comments)

santa fe: A Flower Is a Flower Is A Flower... In Santa Fe! - 03/31/12 03:07 AM

A flower is a flower is a flower. And this tulip blooming in Santa Fe, New Mexico is one of the many examples of visual evidence spring is here. Many of us are still wondering what happened to winter in northern New Mexico. All of a sudden, it is like an alarm went off and flowers started popping up nearly overnight. Mother Nature is making herself known all over Santa Fe now. This tulip is one of many blooming at our Santa Fe Properties office. For me, it is yet another sign of the positive changes in our local real … (7 comments)

santa fe: Any Ideas? Foreign Buyer Needs Financing - 03/17/12 12:23 AM
We have a foreign buyer who needs financing from an international lender to purchase a home in Santa Fe. At present, we have struck out with US banks because it appears they no longer have financial products for foreign buyers and this includes portfolio in-house financing due to new mortgage restrictions on foreign buyers. Our clients have substantial assets in real property overseas and as well as profitable businesses. And they are prepared to pay 50% down in US dollars. Given the value of the dollar relative to many other currencies, this is truly amazing. Today, when real estate is online and global … (11 comments)

santa fe: ActiveRain Time Story: Part 2 - 03/07/12 12:55 PM
A few days ago I finally realized I was off ActiveRain time. Of course, I was not aware how habit forming my activity here on ActiveRain was on ActiveRain time. Doing what we do best, I asked you (members) in a blog to come to my time zone rescue. And of course, you'll did!  I learned my time zone confusion was due to the simple fact that our ActiveRain movers and shakers simply moved the servers to a new time zone located in PCT!Now Mother Nature is about to move our time clocks and cell time all thanks to the laws of daylight savings time. … (20 comments)

santa fe: XLVI Super Bowl: Waiting For Purina! - 02/05/12 11:34 AM

Now I know who Purina is marketing too on this Super Bowl Sunday. It is not my cat! It is me! Although given the way our four on the floors eat on some days, I wish she would watch the commercials. However, it appears this is another speechless Sunday snooze in front of the big game. Perhaps, she does have one eye open for the commercials. In any event, she is just speechless about this XLVI Super Bowl game. Perhaps it is the 9-0 score at the moment! Or better yet, she is waiting for Purina!

santa fe: How Do You Exercise... Your Imagination? - 02/05/12 10:42 AM
How do you exercise... your imagination?

Every now and then, I let my imagination over rule real estate. Otherwise, I would be boring if I only talked about real estate offline and onlline. Here is what happened when I started thinking about birds again. Lately, they have been in front of my camera by accident. My most recent real adventure this week was with a Rainbow...crow. So today, instead of watching all the Superbowl pre-game events, I took one of my favorite feathers into my studio to see what would happen. I wondered if I would learn to fly. Instead, this … (9 comments)

santa fe: Santa Fe Real Estate: If Not Now, When? - 01/27/12 12:13 PM

It is January 2012 and already there are some new signs of life in our local Santa Fe real estate market. It looks like the answer to if not now, when? to buy, might just be now or very soon. After three years of the average home sale price steady at near $400,000, there does appear to be a trend of balance in play. In the last quarter of 2011, there were 22 home sales of over one million. And there were 3 sales of over three million. These were not new record numbers, but they have been a solid … (7 comments)

santa fe: Sunday Morning... Yikes! - 01/22/12 01:21 AM
Another day in real estate does not appear to stop lately. It is Sunday morning. The sun is just coming up over the Sangre de Cristo mountains in Santa Fe revealing a dusting of snow. My four on the floors are thrilled and circling me as I light up the great room with this screen wondering about endless real estate today online. In my first peek at email, I’ve learned Picnik, the delightful photo editing, site will be closing in April reminding me I better read the story and retrieve my images. Next, I see 4 new inquires requesting “more information” on … (5 comments)

santa fe: Santa Fe Speechless Moment: Snow - 01/08/12 09:25 AM

The great thing about snow is how snow in Santa Fe helps tell people we are not a community where palm trees surround swimming pools and people live and work in a hot desert climate. Santa Fe sits at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in a high desert climate rather than one that is hot. It is hot as a destination visitor and relocation market for people seeking a Santa Fe lifestyle or to finish a dream. This photograph happened a few minutes ago just outside my studio door. I love the way the snow makes our … (12 comments)
