I enjoyed my treat of my one and only one, Shamrock Shake on Saturday and LOVED it! (as I knew I would!!!) Then I remembered this blog post I wrote back in 2011 that I thought was worthy of sharing with our newer readers. So, if you've not had your Shamrock Shake yet, times a'wastin! We're quickly approaching St Patrick's Day and it seems everyone wants to be Irish! Everywhere you look, people will be taking part in the wearing (and drinking) of the green and McDonalds is no exception. Their Shamrock Shake goes way back though, to a (46 comments)

We're coming up to St Patrick's Day so I thought you might enjoy this clip from last year, in Sydney Australia. It seems the world becomes "Irish" in the middle of March - go figure! So no matter where you're from or what your favourite colour is, can you imagine experiencing this live on the 17th?! What a great surprise to begin your day! Are you ready to Get Your Irish on?

HOMEMADE IRISH BROWN WHEATEN (BREAD) Takes only moments to prepare and 30 min to bake!!! Ingredients 2 cups all-purpose flour2 cups whole wheat flour1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda3/4 teaspoon salt2 cups buttermilk Cooking spray (or parchment paper) Directions Preheat oven to 450F Combine the flours, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly. Make a well in the center of mixture.
Add buttermilk to flour mixture; stir until blended (dough will be sticky). Turn dough out onto a generously floured surface. Knead lightly 4 to 5 times. Shape dough into an 8-inch round loaf; place on a baking (28 comments)

If you're like many, you dislike Corned Beef and especially the stinky cooked cabbage :0) This is a nice Irish alternative for St Patricks Day Dinner - enjoy! Pork Chops with Guinness and Onion Gravy Ingredients: 8 1 inch thick pork chopssalt and freshly ground pepperAll purpose flour1 tablespoon unsalted butter2 tablespoons vegetable oil3 large onions, thinly sliced3 large garlic cloves, minced1 cup (about) Guinness plus one for the chef!1 cup (about) chicken stock1 tablespoon (or more) coarse-grained mustard1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley1 1/2 teaspoons (or more) balsamic vinegar Method: Season pork with salt and pepper. [and healthier too!!] Corned Beef is an American idea of what is Irish. Back home, they've never heard of it :0) [except maybe in the movies] Because it is an island, seafood is far more the food of choice. The rivers are bursting with salmon and the recipes are endless: Salmon with Sorrel Serves 4 Take four 4-6 ounce salmon fillets, boneless and skinless Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste juice of 1 whole lemon 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil 4 tablespoons of butter divided 2 Granny Smith apples, diced small 1-bunch scallions, chopped (10 comments)
