columbine: Take a Hike! - 07/18/11 12:03 PM
On Saturday, my husband and decided to take a hike with our dog, Jake, to one of the trails recommended in the book, "Best Hikes with Dogs Colorado" by A. Savage. From Denver, we traveled Highway 70 west to Georgetown, then proceed up Guanella Pass to the trail leading to Silver Dollar Lake. I am glad we went early because we got the last space in the parking lot at the trailhead. columbine: Colorado Blue - 06/15/11 11:08 AM
Colorado is famous for the beautiful Blue Columbine which grows wild in the foothills and mountains of the Rockies. Several years ago, my husband and I gutted out old backyard (previous owners) and started from scratch. We only salvaged a couple of pine trees and a lilac bush as well as a forsythia.  Much to our surprise, the columbine reappeared and has flourished.
