emelyn morrissayre: Spring has finally arrived in Denver! - 05/18/14 10:49 AM
Spring has finally arrived in Denver!
This time last week, Mother's Day, I was sitting at home watching the snow fall and feeling sorry for myself.  Due to the weather, I had to cancel plans for dinner with my son and daughter-in-law.  We have  had to reschedule so many times over the past few months....
Today brought new optimism as the sun was out and the temperatures were reaching into the 80's!  That's Colorado for you.  I decided to attend an art fair in northeast Denver, known as Park Hill, where a friend of mine had a booth. It was … (3 comments)

White Sands National Monument needs to be on your Bucket List!
About six weeks ago, I had the opportunity to join a few of my close photographer friends down in Alamagordo, New Mexico to shoot at White Sands National Monument.  Our plans were to shoot sunrise and sunset....but, as photographers, you have to be flexible....and we wanted to have the opportunity to be creatice.
Here are some of my images:

emelyn morrissayre: Receiving a CRS listing referral in Denver Area is a win-win for all parties! - 04/26/12 12:15 AM
Receiving a CRS referral in the Denver area is a win-win for all parties!  By that, I mean, sellers, listing broker, referring broker and even the new buyers!  Within the past month, I received a referral from a CRS in North Dakota.  She had found me on the CRS website, researched me and then called and left a voicemail.  I responded within 3 minutes (IMPORTANT - respond quickly) to her call.  I was able to follow up with her contacts here in Denver within a few more minutes and set up an appointment to discuss the sale of their home.

emelyn morrissayre: My Lakewood, Colorado garden is full of blooms! - 04/22/12 09:39 AM
My Lakewood, Colorado garden is full of blooms.  I love this time of year because my backyard is full of color and wonderful fragrances.  Lilacs, hyacinths and tulips abound.  Our winter this year in Colorado was especially dry so I worried that my garden might suffer, however, my lilac bush has never been prettier and the tulips are magnificent.

The tulips compliment the lilacs.

And then, there is the one black tulip that was magnificent.

With my new camera and such marvelous subjects, I am enjoying Spring in all its glory.

emelyn morrissayre: A one hour showing window is a disservice to all parties! - 04/21/12 12:35 AM
A one hour showing window is a disservice to all parties!  The market here in Denver is incredible hot right now with homes going under contract within just days of appearing on the multiple listing service and many before they even are posted....and we are seeing multiple offers again!  Working with buyers who are ready to purchase is a challenge when we are told that we can only have a one hour showing window.  Trying to plan out a day of seeing 12-14 different homes including travel time.....and what if the buyer really likes a home and wants to take a … (1 comments)

emelyn morrissayre: Hiking Mount Galbraith Loop in Golden, CO on a perfect spring day! - 03/25/12 09:06 AM
Hiking Mount Galbraith Loop in Golden, CO on a perfect spring day will keep my spirits soaring for the entire week!  Although the morning began with hazy skies, my husband, Jim and dog, Jake, joined me west of Denver at the mouth of Golden Gate Canyon.  Just minutes from downtown Golden, the trailhead provided plenty of parking as well as restroom facilities.
The initial part of the hike called Cedar Gulch Trail still had patches of slippery ice and mud but we quickly gained elevation which took us to sunnier terrain.  I carried my new Nikon D7000 in the hopes I … (0 comments)

I believe it is a time to recognize long-standing friendships and relationships such as the one's I have developed through ActiveRain and the Council of Residential Specialists.  Whether you are a REALTOR,  lender,  stager or an avid photographer, I just want to tell you how much I value your friendship and input.  Have a wonderful day.

emelyn morrissayre: Finding Solace in Sunrises and Sunsets - 02/10/12 11:08 AM
Finding solace in sunrises and sunsets was a key part of my past few months.  I live in Colorado, a very far distance from my family on the east coast.  My mother, who has been my mentor and inspiration for my entire life, recently had to undergo radiation treatments for lung cancer. She has never smoked a cigarette in her life so this diagnosis has been even harder to accept.  Two and half years ago, she had surgery to remove the lesions....it has come back.  I traveled back to Virginia to be with her as she endured these treatments.
I found … (8 comments)

emelyn morrissayre: A Solemn Visit to Arlington National Cemetery - 01/11/12 09:23 AM
Today, I made a very solemn visit to Arlington National Cemetery. Having been raised in Arlington, VA, this sacred place is very dear and near to my heart. I was here when JFK was assassinated, when MLK was shot down and experienced many other life-changing events. Every time I come back to see my family I make a point to re-visit some very special places.  The day was overcast and chilly with the forecast of rain.  Here area few photos I took today:

The many wreaths on the gravestones were very touching....so many.....

emelyn morrissayre: Competing for Ranking in ActiveRain helps us all better! - 11/18/11 02:22 PM
Competing for ranking in ActiveRain makes us all better!  My primary market is Lakewood, CO., and I have achieved a great position in my local market place on ActiveRain.  I am second only to a home stager...and my use of "only" is not to diminish my collegue who has worked hard to get into the position of #1, but to make others aware that it is important to move up the ladder and attain the best possible visibility you can.
With that said, my goal is to work up the ladder in Colorado.  I consistently place 62 and 63 in the rankings, … (10 comments)

emelyn morrissayre: A Good Title Company Makes for a Smooth Transaction - 11/18/11 01:58 PM
Having a good title company makes for a smooth transaction. I have been a Realtor for 15 years and having a good, professional title company can make the difference between a difficult transaction and one that moves through like a sharp blade on smooth ice.
I have two companies that I use regularly....depending on the location of the property for sale.  My last sale was a home in Denver, Co., and I used Fidelity National Title Company to handle the transaction.  From the time I got under contract to the passing of the keys, Fidelity was there to provide professional, timely and … (2 comments)

emelyn morrissayre: Thirsty? - 11/16/11 11:47 AM
Thirsty?  When I first got my Nikon DSL camera, I did some experimenting of close-ups of a lemon slice.  I really liked how it turned out so I decided to revisit the subject.  This time, I sliced a lime and used a variety of backgrounds.  Photography is such a wonderful part of my life and I have incorporated some of my photos in a tour on my website.  I hope you might take a moment to visit and as always, your comments are very much appreciated.

emelyn morrissayre: Sunrise in Moab - 11/09/11 01:29 PM
Earlier this year I attended the Moab Photo Symposeum for the first time. We arrived early so that we could get up and photograph the sunrise.  This was my first trip to Moab and I was overwhelmed by the beauty of my surroundings.   This arch has been photographed thousands and thousands of times, yet capturing it in my own camera made in one of a kind...my very own original. I hope you enjoy these images.  They are "unprocessed" for those of you that are into photography.

emelyn morrissayre: When life gives you lemons..... - 10/28/11 11:44 AM
When life gives you lemons.....be creative!  Sure you can make lemonade or you can come up with even more ideas!  I decided to try to duplicate a photo that I had seen in a book....with just a slice of lemon, a flower vase, club soda, salt and a clothespin, I came up with what I think is a pretty cool shot....quite refreshing if I do say so myself.  For more refreshing photos, check out my photo tour.

And here is how I photographed it:

emelyn morrissayre: Sunrise at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Alamosa, CO - 10/27/11 10:24 AM
Sunrise at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Alamosa, CO is a photographer's dream! On Sunday, my friend Kristal and I drove down to southern Colorado to the town of Alamosa.  The hotel we stayed in was approximately 20 miles from the entrance to the Great Sand Dunes National Park.  Our plan was to shoot the sunrise. Check out my blog, complete with photos.
Here is a sample:

emelyn morrissayre: Oh what a difference a few days can make in Lakewood, CO - 10/26/11 08:38 AM
Oh what a difference a few days can make in Lakewood, CO.  I live in a wonderful neighborhood called O'Kane Park which is only a ten minute drive from downtown Denver.  Most of the homes were built in the early 1960's....mainly ranch style with full basements.
Across the street from my house is a lovely, well mainained home with a large, old tree that was just awash with color on Saturday.....

Well, last night we got the start of our first winter storm.....that translates to snow!  Here is the same home just a few days later:

emelyn morrissayre: Pumpkins in Lakewood, Colorado! - 10/22/11 02:17 PM
Pumpkins in Lakewood Colorado!   I know you are having a hard time believing that there are pumpkins growing in Lakewood Colorado and surrounding areas!   But it is true, you can find wonderfully fresh pumpkins for this Halloween season.
As I traveled down Alameda Avenue to Garrison, there is a wonderful pumpkin patch right at the the corner. Proceeds benefit charity and there is a very large selection....from mini pumpkins to large plus some very strange looking species to choose from

emelyn morrissayre: Be sure to look up! Fall colors in downtown Denver! - 10/21/11 10:48 AM
Be sure to look up when you are enjoying a walk in downtown Denver.  The fall colors this year have been outstanding.  I have travelled numerous times to the foothills and mountains west of Denver, Lakewood and Golden to photograph the changing colors.
On Wednesday, one of my meetings was cancelled which freed up about an hour of my time. I grabbed my camera and headed to downtown Denver, specifically Washington Park.  Lots of the trees had already lost many of their leaves and their colors had faded but as I walked down some side streets that were awash with color, … (5 comments)
