lilacs: Spring has finally arrived in Denver! - 05/18/14 10:49 AM
Spring has finally arrived in Denver!
This time last week, Mother's Day, I was sitting at home watching the snow fall and feeling sorry for myself.  Due to the weather, I had to cancel plans for dinner with my son and daughter-in-law.  We have  had to reschedule so many times over the past few months....
Today brought new optimism as the sun was out and the temperatures were reaching into the 80's!  That's Colorado for you.  I decided to attend an art fair in northeast Denver, known as Park Hill, where a friend of mine had a booth. It was … (3 comments)

lilacs: My Lakewood, Colorado garden is full of blooms! - 04/22/12 09:39 AM
My Lakewood, Colorado garden is full of blooms.  I love this time of year because my backyard is full of color and wonderful fragrances.  Lilacs, hyacinths and tulips abound.  Our winter this year in Colorado was especially dry so I worried that my garden might suffer, however, my lilac bush has never been prettier and the tulips are magnificent.

With my new camera and such marvelous subjects, I am enjoying Spring in all its glory.

On Wednesday of this week, a large hail storm hit parts of Metro Denver, causing extensive flight cancellations at DIA and a large amount of hair damage. Golf ball size hail slammed into homes, windows and neighborhood yards.
It is time for Ms. Spring to settle down and let summer gently glide in.

The foothills west of town received 10 inches to 2 in Lakewood, we got about 3-4 inches.  I am sure glad that flowering bulbs such as tulips are pretty hardy. Another storm is expected to hit tonight, just in time for my scheduled mountain showings tomorrow morning....keeping my boots and an extra coat in the car just makes good … (17 comments)
