Marina Del Rey, CA : Breaking News another minor Earthquake at 8:14 pm tonight!
Ok I was on the computer responding to a Counter Offer on one of my transactions which I am negotiating.
No I was not cookingJ but this one was a “snap” I immediately went to the US Geological Website to see what magnitude this earthquake was. According to the site it was only a 2.8 magnitude. Hence I suspect this one was closer, because it felt stronger than the one we had Friday (3.2) hence I know it was closerJ.    ( http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/ )

earthquakes: Did you hear we had a 3.7 & 2.4 magnitude earthquake in Marina Del Rey - 07/26/12 06:11 AM
Did you hear we had a 3.7 & a 2.4 earthquake yesterday in Marina Del Rey?

I know to most of you it is no big deal, for those of us who live in Southern California, earthquakes are part of life. I was jolted awake from a deep sleep around 3:19am yesterday by a 3.7 magnitude earthquake. The epicenter was about 1.5 miles from Marina Del Rey, where we live. Two of our cats did not even get fazed by it and our third one looked at me sort of inquisitively. Diane slept thru the event. Keep in mind it … (39 comments)

earthquakes: What were you doing at 2:17am this morning? - 06/07/10 04:54 PM
What were you doing at 2:17am this morning? I had a tremendous head ache after the Lakers-Celtics game and I was lying in bed awake. I am one of those armchair coaches who amerces himself totally into the game, and boy this was a stressful game.
Next thing I know is, the bad shaking, it was a small earthquake. According to the US Geological Survey this was a 3.6 magnitude temblor and was centered about four miles west of Redondo Beach at a depth of 8 miles.
Thankfully this was minor and did not even make it into the major news. … (18 comments)

earthquakes: Earthquake Tips Post #3 , Southern California living in Earthquake Country - 04/10/10 07:39 PM
Earthquake Tips Post  #3
As you know, previously I have written a couple of post about' earthquake myths'. We just had one in the not too distant past, a week ago to be exact, a 7.2 Earthquake. This one was larger than the Northridge quake of 1994. It went relatively unnoticed in the major media outlets for a number of reasons.
One as you know the Media likes sensationalism, l for one am grateful that there was less than five people who died, hence it was not newsworthy. Diane (my other half) was on the East Coast and she told me, … (10 comments)

earthquakes: Earthquake Myth #2 "...The Earth Opened....there was a ten inch wide gap..." - 12/27/09 12:10 PM
Earthquake Myth #2 "...The Earth Opened....there was a ten inch wide gap..."
As I promised earlier, I will try to debunk some of the earthquake myths. So without further delay let us address Myth #2....the earth opened up..."
When you read a fiction book describing an earthquake or watch a movie simulating an earthquake and they show a fault opening and the earth swallows up cities, towns, and bad people. That is pure fiction.
Faults like that only exist in novels and the movies. If the earth could open, there would be not Friction and without Friction, there would be no … (3 comments)

Have you heard Southern California is Earthquake Country? Dispelling Myth #1 Earthquake happens in the morning!
As an East Coast transplant, I have to share with you some misconceptions which concern some people who have never lived in Southern California. Local Angelinos do not understand, nor can they relate to the fears of people, who have never lived here before.
I will write a series of posts to dispel myths and give a dose of  reality to people considering Relocating to Southern California.(we have lived here now for over 14+years and will plan on living here for many more) What they … (6 comments)
