real estate market: Market Observations for the week of November 8th, 2010 - 11/08/10 10:34 AM
Market Observations for the week of November 8th, 2010, as you know I do not often comment on this subject, since there is a great deal of daily volatility in the Stock Market and consequently in the mortgage rates as well.
Last Wednesday, the Fed announced that, to help boost the economy, it will purchase an additional $600 billion in Treasury securities by the end of the second quarter of 2011. The expectation is to purchase about $75 billion per month to reach its goal.
The good news is this will help Real Estate sales, since the Dollar will remain weak … (4 comments)

real estate market: Have you ever been to the Mission San Juan Capistrano? - 09/19/10 02:48 PM
Have you ever been to the Mission San Juan Capistrano? If not this is a must see destination for lovers of California history.  There is so much to tell, I will need to do a few posts about this. So in the near future I will write a little about:  1. the history, 2. the earthquake, 3. the mission bells, 4. the return of the Swallows 5. And of course I would be remiss if I did not write about the Hollywood connection to the mission.
Just a teaser: The mission was founded on November 1, 1776, by Spanish Franciscan Order … (0 comments)

real estate market: Playa Vista Market Report for April 2010 - 05/18/10 01:05 PM
Playa Vista Market Report for April, 2010
Although I am very late with this valuable information, as the old saying goes" better late than never" with that here we go.
The Active listing inventory has dropped from the previous month by about 7.5%. This is quite strange, since the spring market is in full force and you would think Sellers would want their properties on the Market.
This of course has a ripple effect, when there are fewer properties on the market to choose from, and then there will be fewer properties in Escrow. For the period in April there were … (2 comments)

real estate market: Playa Vista Condominium Market Report for March 2010 - 04/10/10 09:23 AM
The Playa Vista Condominium Market Report for March 2010 looks quite different from the February report. The Active Inventory had a slight uptick, currently there are 33 active listings on the market.
There was a greater increase in the properties that went into Escrow this month vs. last month. There are 11 Condominiums which are Accepting Backup Offers and 20 are pending. This I attribute to the new California Tax Incentive for buyers. As the Federal Incentive is fading into the sunset here comes California with a Tax Incentive.
The sold properties are slightly less than February's, nevertheless there were 6 … (2 comments)

real estate market: What is Beverly Hills,CA? It is a destination for the tourist, the rich and the famous - 03/10/10 05:12 PM
What is Beverly Hills, CA? It is a destination for the tourists, the rich, the famous and the infamous. One thinks of the zip code 90210, and the TV Show of the same name. When we think of Beverly Hills, we think of Glamour, Movie Stars and an Affluent Society. Beverly Hills is a destination place. People from all over the world want to visit and or live here.
Beverly Hills was a prosperous location long before the entertainment industry discovered it. We might be wondering what the reason was. The answer is water. Southern California has fantastic climate all year … (8 comments)

real estate market: Back from Hibernation, the story of my New Unwelcomed Dell Studio 15 - 03/02/10 11:11 AM
Back from Hibernation, the story of my new unwelcomed Dell Studio 15
Some of you noticed I have been away for two weeks or so. It was not planned. No, I did not go to a deserted Island without internet access. I had some Laptop Issues.
Change is good when you do it willingly on your own. Change is debilitating when it is done to you. So with that, I want to share with you the following experience.
I had a Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop for seven short years. Then two weeks ago the dreaded blue screen came, two three hour … (12 comments)

real estate market: Playa Vista Market Report for September 2009 - 10/06/09 05:34 PM
Playa Vista Market Report for September 2009 First I want to let all my readers know there are a few changes I made to the normal monthly market report. I was very intrigued how little the inventory was, so I did a comparison between September 2008 to September 2009 as well as the month to month in between. I found this quite fascinating and I wanted to share it with you

There were only 26 Active Listings. I was just totally amazed. Compared to September 2008 that is a huge change. Even if you compare it July as well as … (6 comments)

real estate market: The Dilemma: Should I sell now or next year? - 09/11/09 07:21 AM
The dilemma: Should I sell now or next year? Many sellers are asking themselves this question. As a trusted advisor you have to give good advice. I am constantly asked this question as I sit in front of my prospective clients. To me the answer is very clear. There are many reasons to sell now rather then wait until next year.
Even though the economic recovery is appearing to be improving, the economy remains very fragile. As long it is fragile, that means consumer confidence is still lacking. As long as consumer confidence is weak, prices are vulnerable to new shock … (20 comments)
