Well the Bonita Fest came and went again this year. This was the smallest Bonita fest in a decade or two. Unfortunately for the kids, there was no parade this year. Next year, however, a parade is promised once again thanks to some local contributions.

Well, some possible light in the dark economic tunnel yesterday in terms of interest rates. The fed announced no change in rates but did hint that some further quantitative easing may be in store at the next meeting. This means that they, the Fed, are more likely to create more "stimulus" without directly lowering interest rates. These, quantitative easing measures are said to be an easier way to spur spending. While July is historically a bigger housing sales month of the year, last month in southern California home sales declined over 20% from June to July. In San Diego, July sales were over 19% lower than July 2009 according to DataQuick. What a shock right (sarcasm). With the first-time buyer tax credits coming to an end, a slowdown in sales was pretty expected. First-time buyers were acting like those tax credits were golden tickets to financial freedom and home affordability, no matter how much more they paid for their house. Some Chula Vista Schools are getting a few additions funded by bonds and propositions O and R. Both Chula Vista High School and Southwester College will be gaining new buildings. Chula Vista High School is adding a large, 3-story multiuse building for a library, theater and additional classrooms. Southwestern College is planning to build a new central building to house all of the college’s heating and cooling systems as well as a new gym and additional classrooms.
