It is a very tight knit group of neighbors, which is unusual in this day and age. We get together throughout the year, to celebrate holidays, but are also there to help one another during times of need. Last night we enjoyed the 2013 edition of our Progressive Holiday Dinner. Sparrow Drive Oktoberfest -- Cortina Community -- Queen Creek AZ Our friends and neighbors on Sparrow Drive (within the Cortina Community of Queen Creek, Arizona) staged an Oktoberfest tonight. The party featured four hand-crafted German draft beers, a variety of sausage and traditional side dishes, and polka music. This past week was a difficult one for my family -- my wife's Dad, Tony Indomenico, passed away at the age of 88. Tony suffered a severe stroke earlier this month. When it became apparent that the doctors could no longer help him, he was transferred to a hospice in Gilbert Arizona. His family and the Hospice staff provided loving care for several days, before he passed away. Dessert Course -- Holiday Progressive Dinner -- Sparrow Drive, Cortina We had our annual Progressive Dinner last night, on our block in the Cortina community of Queen Creek, Arizona. For those who are unfamiliar, a Progressive Dinner is one in which each successive course is served at a different residence. Josie and I hosted the appetizer course. I was already full after that round, but still managed to find a way to continue through the delicious 2nd and 3rd courses!
