Well it feels like the dog days of summer have arrived here in St George UT!  Temperatures are in the triple digits now and it's definitely swimming pool season.
As you can see from the photo below, even our dogs love swimming in the pool!  This little pup is actually one of my son's dogs, his name is Huckleberry.

The Washington and Iron County, UT economic landscape is looking good. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate increased from 0.5% to 6.7% in Washington County, UT. This increase has pushed the unemployment rate in Washington County above the state average and below the national average. And, according to RealtyTrac, home foreclosures are also down again. The 2012 homeowners satisfaction survey by HomeGain is in. Homeowners from near and far were asked whether they are satisfied with home ownership and if the price appreciation or depreciation was a factor.
Over 70% of those surveyed said they were satisfied with owning a home, and nearly 28% were dissatisfied with home ownership. Those that were asked if price appreciation was their reason for satisfaction, just over 20% said yes. Around 76% listed other reasons for their satisfaction of home ownership. Some of the most popular answers for home ownership were freedom from rent and pride of owning a home.

A new running course for the 2012 Ironman St. George race will help enhance the spectator experience as well as the athlete experience this year in Southern Utah. The latest report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, show an average of 85,800 Utah residents looking for work. But even with those large numbers, Utah does continue to be leading the nation in employment growth, which is excellent news for the local economy.
