WHEN IS IT? Saturday March 21st, 2015... dine-in from 4:00PM until 7:00PM.
WHERE IS IT? Kutztown Community Fire Company, Route 645, Myerstown, PA
WHAT DO I GET? Pennsylvania Dutch chicken pot pie, lettuce with bacon dressing, homemade bread and desserts and coffee or tea.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Adults $8.25...children 6-12 $5.00 and under 6 is FREE!
Take out is available from Noon until 2:00PM... $5.00 a quart.

chicken: It's Hinkelfest Time!!

It's that time of year again in Lebanon County. The 23rd annual Hinkelfest (hinkel is the Pennsylvania Dutch word for chicken) will be held from Friday, September 12th, through Sunday, September 14th at Firemans Park, 2652 South Pine Grove Rd. (PA Rte. 343) just south of Fredericksburg.
Admission, parking and outdoor entertainment are FREE
The hours are Friday from 5:00PM until 9:30PM, Saturday from 8:00AM until 9:30 PM and Sunday from 9:00AM until 4:00PM.

chicken: Slow Cooker Chicken And Sauerkraut

Don't laugh, it worked and was extremely tasty.
Whatcha need? A Crock-pot, 3-4 good sized boneless & skinless chicken breasts, 2-3 cloves garlic, 1/2 a SWEET onion, kosher salt, fresh ground pepper, sugar, water and, oh yeah, a 2 pound BAG of sauerkraut!!
Whadaya do with all that? Drain and rinse the kraut and put it in the bottom of the crock-pot, cut the onion into whatever kinda hunks make you happy and drop 'em on top, coarsely chop the garlic and do the same thing...Sprinkle it all with about 2-3 tablespoons of sugar and pour a cup of water over … (1 comments)

'HINKEL' is the Pennsylvania Dutch word for CHICKEN...The annual festival has chicken prepared more ways than you can think of...Proceeds benefit 5 of the Fredericksburg Community Organizations; Fire Company, Library, American Legion, Lions Club and Community Association...Stop buy, have some fun and eat well...It's a nice time.
