aurora illinois: Cambridge Countryside - Townhomes on Aurora's North Side - 05/06/11 06:05 PM
Cambridge Countryside is the second subdivision in my three-part feature of Aurora far north-side subdivisions.
The Cambridge Countryside Subdivision is located in the same area as our last featured north-side subdivision, Butterfield. It is located between Eola and Kirk on Butterfield road and can be accessed VIA Du Page Parkway. The townhomes of Cambridge Countryside are fairly large as townhomes go and feature stylish exteriors with partial brick exteriors. Many of the models also include double-story living rooms and some even include full basements. One of the popular features of Cambridge Counrtyside Aurora is that the homes feed into IPSD … (0 comments)

aurora illinois: America's Roundhouse Sold to Two Brothers - 05/04/11 02:08 PM
I first reported this news item on my blog a little while ago - Two Brothers Brewing Company Purchases Former America's Roundhouse - and if you are familiar with the area, this has got to be one of the biggest real estate stories in Aurora this spring (the other big story will be the opening of the new WCC campus in downtown Aurora this spring). Many Fox Valley residents have been following the story of America's Roundhouse - the former Walter Payton's Roundhouse - for a while ever since word was released that the restaurant/microbrewery was struggling. Seemingly, one chapter of … (0 comments)

aurora illinois: Golden Oaks Real Estate - 08/01/08 03:15 AM
Golden Oaks is a subdivisions of nearly 400 homes located in the Northwest section of the City of Aurora. It was built by Pulte Homes between 1990 and 1994 and consists of small to medium-sized homes ranging from around 1200 to 2300 square feet. Golden Oaks homes are popular with both first-time homebuyers as well as budget-concious families due to the relative low prices of homes versus what you get. Many of the homes feature 3-4 bedrooms, full basements and come in a variety of styles from ranch homes to large two-story. Golden Oaks is conveniently located near I-88, Orchard Road, … (0 comments)

aurora illinois: Aurora Fireworks Once Again a Blast - 07/11/08 05:32 AM
On the evening of July 4th, the sky on the west side of Aurora was once again ablaze with color. In 2008, for the second year in a row, the City of Aurora fireworks were held on the grounds of the Illinois Math and Science Academy near the corner of Sullivan and Edgelawn. I have to say, of all the firework displays I've seen, this is annually one of the best. For nearly 30 minutes, the crowd "ooohed" and "ahhhed" at the brightly colored shells that burst in the perfectly clear skies in tribute to our counrty and community.
Earlier in the day, … (0 comments)

aurora illinois: Legacy Fieds Offers Great Legacy - 03/22/08 04:52 AM
Of all the townhomes available in the Fox Valley, perhaps one of the most popular complexes remains the Legacy Fields Townhomes. Located on Aurora's far east side near the Fox Valley Mall, Legacy Fields was constructed at the beginning of the millenium and features a lot of modern amenities that buyers are looking for in a home. You will find gourmet kitchens, fireplaces as well as finished lower levels in many of these townhomes. Also, the Legacy Fields Subdivision was constructed with a view in mind. Many of the buildings look outward to the surrounding woods, prairie or wetlands. There are … (0 comments)

aurora illinois: Park Avenue is Right Down Your Alley - 09/15/07 04:09 AM
Last weekend, I spent the afternoon on the far east side of Aurora doing research on several popular townhome complexes. The first was Park Avenue Subdivision where I had an appointment to do a market analysis. This complex is located on New York Street just west of Eola and is in a prime location for buyers looking for a home that's close to both Aurora and Naperville. Some of the more popular features with the Park Avenue townhomes include pond and woods views, partial brick fronts and some units feature full basements. If you are a home buyer looking for homes for sale in … (0 comments)

aurora illinois: Oakhurst Subdivision - Information - 04/05/07 04:23 AM
Oakhurst Subdivision is located on the far east side of Aurora near the intersection of New York and Eola Road. This large community of perhaps 1000 homes features hiking paths, community parks and semi-custom homes. Oakhurst subdivision is divided into a number of smaller sub-sections known as "neighborhoods". Most neighborhoods can be located off of McCoy Drive which bisects the community. Most homes in Oakhurst feed into school district 204 and are conveniently located between the cities of Aurora and Naperville. Local shopping includes the Fox Valley mall as well as many other restaurants and stores along Route 59 just to the … (0 comments)

aurora illinois: Aurora Illinois - Community Information and History - 01/07/07 06:46 AM
Aurora, Illinois
Aurora Illinois was founded in 1834 by the McCarty brothers, Joseph and Samuel from New York. Real estate played a big part in Aurora's beginnings - the brothers were looking for a place to build a sawmill and the Fox River afforded them the perfect opportunity. They bought real estate from the government and several squatters east of the Fox River and named the new community McCarty Mills. The budding town soon became a stagecoach stop on the road from Chicago to destinations west. In 1854 a town named Hartford started to grow on the west side of the Fox … (0 comments)
