At the heart of Las Cruces lies New Mexico State University, which was created as a land-grant institution in 1888. With over 16,000 students attending its main campus, it really does feel like a main artery feeding into Las Cruces’ life and energy.

nmsu: A few things to do in Las Cruces tomorrow - 07/23/10 10:05 AM

Las Cruces Farmers Market (every Saturday and Wednesday)It’s been a few weeks since I’ve made it to the farmers market, so it’s definitely going to be on my to-do list for tomorrow. For one, I have a hankering for some fresh green tomatoes, so that I can slice them up and put them on the grill (I usually just put a dash of salt, pepper and olive oil on them before grilling).
And then hopefully sometime later in the day I will be able to make it to one of the following shows.KRWG benefit concert

Since Las Cruces and surrounding communities are so rich with American Indian culture, it only makes sense that crafts, dances, and music should kick-off American Indian Week starting on Monday. As part of American Indian Month, NMSU’s American Indian Program makes it a point to really celebrate the traditions and culture of all New Mexico’s American Indian Nations.

Cultural events ranging from art exhibits, demonstrations, and dance performances to a Parade of Nations and Miss Native American NMSU Pageant all begin Monday, April 5, and end Saturday, April 10. Two-time Grammy winner, Robert Mirabal, will be performing on April 8 … (1 comments)
