fairfax county: Founder's Walk -- condos on Founder's Hill - 06/28/09 12:02 AM

Founder's Walk is located just outside the Beltway near Van Dorn Metro. Although it has an Alexandria postal address it is in Fairfax County. The units at Founder's Walk are relatively large compared to similarly priced units in the Alexandria area. These garden-style condos are recently built and have the types of upgrades that folks have come to expect such as a fireplace in the unit or hardwood floors in the dining area. As you can see these condos have plenty of windows and light. The neighborhood is pleasant and quiet, despite being very close to the Capital Beltway. … (1 comments)

Around our nation's capital Let me start with my single-biggest pet peeve among newcomers: the term "DC proper".
I have seen this term used regularly on a site that claims to provide local information. That information is provided by people using anonymous handles. Anonymous handles … (2 comments)

fairfax county: About Condos - 08/07/08 11:16 PM
The best part about owning a condo is that your condominium sets you on the path to financial freedom. The worst part about buying your first condo is that buying a condo usually costs more monthly cash flow than renting an apartment.
While it often costs more per month to buy than to rent, in most cases, all that extra money comes back to you at the end of the year in the form of tax refunds. Best of all, next year your mortgage will be the same amount and your debt will be reduced. With an apartment your money is … (0 comments)

fairfax county: Hunting bigfoot by random selection? - 07/31/08 12:45 AM
I met a potential client who told me that she had been looking for two years for a condo.  She called me because she wanted to see a particular property in Belle View.  After establishing that she didn't have an agent, I showed her Belle View I practically had to drag here to see a property I thought she would like based upon her input. A few days later, she wanted me to tag … (0 comments)
