Lightning in the Sacramento area happens only a few times a year, maybe. I think there have been only a few times in my whole life that I can remember a bad thunder storm. We just don't experience extreme weather here. Well, Monday we had a few strikes, nothing much at all though. My son and puppy were scared to death. Actually, my son said he wasn't afraid of the lightning but the thunder. I told him that the thunder couldn't hurt him but the lightning could.

I have been following this Lake Tahoe wildfire near Meyers, CA for days. Having grown up within miles of the area this is a situation that really hits home.
