fayetteville nc: Cookies with Santa in Fayetteville NC - 12/05/10 03:05 AM
"Originally posted at "All Things Real in Fayetteville NC"
Some time ago, my AR friend Cindy Marchant (Cindy in Indy) talked about an annual event she does called "Cookies with Santa." When I found out about it, I thought it was a great idea, and purposed to do the same thing in my market, Fayetteville, NC.
So, I banded together with some other Keller Williams agents (and AR stars!) Melissa McKinney, Shawna Green, Amanda Simpson and Renee Martin and we planned our very own "Cookies with Santa."
We had a great time planning, preparing and putting this event together. I really … (6 comments)

fayetteville nc: A Dickens Christmas 2010 in Fayetteville, NC - 11/28/10 02:14 AM
Fayetteville, NC celebrates "A Dickens Holiday" each year. Here are some photos from this year's event.
Though it is officially named "A Dickens Holiday" so that it is as inclusive as possible, we always refer to it as a Dickens Christmas in my home.
The celebration consumes the better part of a day, with downtown closed off to traffic (I love that we have a pedestrian mall in our downtown on Hay Street!) and many different events filling up the afternoon.
What a fun day it is, with many different people in period clothing and local actors in costumes from Dickens's … (8 comments)

fayetteville nc: Haymount NC Real Estate - Saturday Mornings Mean the Fayetteville Farmer's Market - 10/02/10 07:04 AM
There are so many reasons for choosing to live in the Haymount neighborhood of Fayetteville, NC or in the nearby neighborhoods of VanStory Hills or Murray Hills.  Here are a few:
The location just can't be beat.  These neighborhoods are ideally located and commute times are short to Fort Bragg, downtown, and many of the popular shopping and restaurant areas.  The Terry Sanford School District remains a very popular choice with parents and children.  A strong academic performance and a very successful athletic program make this school district notable state-wide. Property values remain strong, even in a depressed market.  During the … (4 comments)

fayetteville nc: It's Amazing, It's Stupendous, It's...Dishwasher Detergent??? - 09/29/10 09:00 AM
My husband, bless his little pea-pickin' heart, is the early riser in our house. Each morning, he gets up before anyone else and starts his day with devotions and reading.
And, because he's up, he always heats up the oatmeal that our two little girls have every morning for breakfast.  Great, right?
Not too long ago, we remodeled our kitchen, and we added our beautiful 5-burner gas cooktop.  We're foodies, and we love to cook.

Except sometimes (twice so far this week!) my husband forgets he has the pot of oatmeal on the burner.  Ever smell burnt oatmeal? YEEECCHH!  So … (9 comments)

fayetteville nc: Fayetteville NC, We Have to Stop Child Trafficking Now - 09/28/10 04:08 AM
I've posted on this subject before, and this is a reminder that your help is needed.
On Sunday, October 3, Fayetteville, NC will host a 5k walk to raise funds for Stop Child Trafficking Now. It will begin in Festival Park at 3:00 p.m. It is one of 39 cities that will host walks that weekend.
Stop Child Trafficking Now is an organization dedicated to stopping child trafficking in a way different than most agencies. Rather than try to rescue children or remove the pimps who are the source of supply, Stop Child Trafficking Now (SCTNow.org) believes that targeting the predators … (0 comments)

On October 3, 2010 from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Fayetteville will participate in the Stop Child Trafficking Now Community Walk. The event will be held in Festival Park.

fayetteville nc: Haymount NC Real Estate - Weekends Were Made for Strolling thru Downtown - 08/22/10 03:01 AM
Many people moving into Fayetteville, NC choose to buy their homes in the very popular Haymount neighborhood, and nearby neighborhoods like VanStory Hills and Murray Hills.
There are so many great reasons they do:
Location, location, location - Haymount is ideally situated. Commute times are short and Fayetteville's most popular activities are very close-by. The Terry Sanford School District is popular with folks with school-aged children, and Terry Sanford is the school district that services the Haymount, VanStory and Murray Hills neighborhoods. Home values continue to appreciate over time, even in today's market. These are Fayetteville's "established" neighborhoods with many homes … (2 comments)

fayetteville nc: Do You Qualify For A Deed-for-Lease? - 08/12/10 03:48 PM
Read Allan Pape's post today Are You Considering Walking Away From Your House Then You Have Got To Know Your Options  that mentioned the Fannie Mae site http://knowyouroptions.com which provides information on options for homeowners who can not afford their mortgage payments.
Shortly after, I went to the site to check it out. I must say, it is an invaluable site for anyone who is not able to pay their mortgage.
As the blog post stated, the site does outline the 3 options available to someone in that position, namely foreclosure, deed-in-lieu and short sale.
I think most anyone these days is … (3 comments)

fayetteville nc: You Have to Move Quickly to Get the Home You Want, in the Neighborhood You Want, Even in This Market - 07/09/10 03:06 AM
Buying the right home in the Terry Sanford School District, or in the case of my clients, the Alma Easom Elementary School area means you have to move quickly. Terry Sanford is one of the most desired school districts in Fayetteville, NC and houses for sale in Terry Sanford can sell even before they hit the Multiple Listing Service. One of my latest listings in the Terry Sanford School District sold in just days, and I blogged about the beautiful home my sellers had for sale and the multiple offers my sellers received on their home!
The national media has recently … (4 comments)

fayetteville nc: Fayetteville and Fort Bragg, NC 4th of July Celebration - The Show Goes On! - 07/04/10 02:38 AM
You could make a movie out of what happened here in Fayetteville and Fort Bragg, NC this Independence Day weekend, but no one would believe it!
Traditionally, we have a full slate of activities to celebrate the birthday of our nation here in America's Hometown. We love to celebrate freedom, and we spend a long weekend doing just that. On Friday, I wrote about why There's No Place Quite Like Fayetteville and Fort Bragg for the 4th of July. But, then some events occurred that threatened to derail the whole weekend.
Like every other year, the community planned to cap off … (1 comments)

fayetteville nc: There's No Place Quite Like Fayetteville, NC and Fort Bragg for the 4th of July - 07/02/10 01:37 PM
We have a saying here in Fayetteville and Fort Bragg, NC and around Pope Air Force Base.
When a piece of heavy equipment rumbles by, or the boom of artillery rattles some windows, or an A-10 "Warthog" or a C-130 fly by, we yell out over the noise, "That's the sound of freedom!"
The 4th of July is an especially important holiday for us, and we love to celebrate it. Freedom is a very real and tangible concept to us in Fayetteville. Our community is filled with people who have served their country for many years, and in many dangerous and … (1 comments)

fayetteville nc: What Does Your Offer of Service Above and Beyond Look Like? - 06/30/10 05:31 PM
I think all professionals who take pride in their work and how they perform it would believe they offer above and beyond customer service.
I certainly believe I do.
Recently, I've been thinking about that quite a bit and how I can actually explain to a prospective client exactly HOW it is that I provide above and beyond service.
Last year when my husband began talking to me about the importance of video blogging (and I mostly ignored him) I did make a video in which I discussed exactly what that above and beyond service means to me. Of course I've … (0 comments)

fayetteville nc: How $18,000 in New Windows Saved Me $6,000. - 06/24/10 04:38 PM
I live in an older established neighborhood in the city of Fayetteville, NC. The neighborhood was built in the mid 60's and when we purchased our home in 2003 it had not been updated in ANY way.
We chose the home for the Terry Sanford school district for my son. The location and school district was more important to us than updates.
Since then we have slowly remodeled the house. It goes very slowly when you are not financing the remodel.
Last year we finally got to the windows. Our windows were 43 years old and a death trap. They didn't … (7 comments)
