lake tarpon: Lake Tarpon & John Chesnut Park - Palm Harbor Florida - 01/12/15 04:40 AM
Lake Tarpon and John Chesnut Park in Palm Harbor Florida was where we took the boat this morning. We launched the boat at Anderson Park in Tarpon Springs and then crossed the lake to John Chesnut Park.

Years ago, before there were boat ramps at Anderson Park & John Chesnut Park, people used an old (now non-existant) boat ramp that was next to East Lake Road. The natural canal led into Lake Tarpon and today Ronnie wanted to show me that canal.

Since he grew up in Clearwater (I grew up in South Tampa), he remembers using the old … (8 comments)

lake tarpon: Lake Tarpon Bass Fishing - January 2015 - Palm Harbor Florida - 01/02/15 09:52 PM
Lake Tarpon Bass Fishing - January 2015 - Palm Harbor Florida - This is certainly the best way to begin the new year, out on the quiet waters of Lake Tarpon, enjoying the blue skies and sunshine!

Ronnie caught a bass, which I  photographed before he released it. We don't eat fresh water fish, so this guy is going to get a chance to grow before somebody else catches him!

It was perfect weather, with a few planes flying overhead on their way to Tampa International Airport. Other than the sound of the planes and  the motor of a … (8 comments)

lake tarpon: New Year's Eve Boating On Lake Tarpon - Palm Harbor Florida - 12/30/14 08:29 PM
New Year's Eve is going to be a boating day on Lake Tarpon here in Palm Harbor Florida! It is going to be in the mid-70's today, so we will be heading out in a couple of hours to enjoy a final day in 2014 out on the water.

While the rest of the nation is layering on their clothing to keep warm, we will be in shorts and a pullover out on the lake enjoying the sunshine and blue skies! Oh, and yes, that home in the photo does have an airplane in the water in front of it's … (9 comments)

Yes, it is going to be another Lake Tarpon day today! With Christmas week almost here and temperatures going up into the mid-70's today, we are taking a few hours to go back out onto the lake today!

This will also give me a chance to work on taking videos with the new Nikon camera. I did not check the batteries last time, so today they are freshly recharged and ready for action! Lake Tarpon, here we come!

lake tarpon: A December Day Along Lake Tarpon, Tarpon Springs, Florida - 12/17/14 08:47 PM
This is a typical December day along Lake Tarpon in Tarpon Springs Florida.

As a matter of fact, we both got a bit of a sunburn yesterday because I did not think to bring along the sunscreen - something you always need down here in the Sunshine State.

While Ronnie did troll for bass a bit yesterday, it was mostly just a day out enjoying the beauty of Lake Tarpon. I did some photographing and then listened to a Dan Brown audio book for a while while we slowly meandered along the shoreline and into various canals along beautiful … (5 comments)

lake tarpon: Palm Harbor Florida's Lake Tarpon - Bass Fishing At Sunrise - 07/15/14 06:36 AM
Palm Harbor Florida's Lake Tarpon has some extremely large bass and what better time to go bass fishing than sunrise?

That is when this video was made, as the sun started to rise in the East and the local fishermen were already out in their boats, attempting to catch the first bass of the day.

lake tarpon: Morning View Of Lake Tarpon - Palm Harbor Florida - 07/15/14 06:12 AM
This is a great morning view of Lake Tarpon in Palm Harbor Florida. We were on top of the observation tower when I took this photo.

The sun was just beginning to come up over the lake and there were fishermen out already, hoping to catch bass.

Naturally, this is the best time to walk since we are now in summer and it is hot and humid down here.

lake tarpon: Another Great Day on Lake Tarpon - Tarpon Springs Florida - 01/29/14 09:09 PM
Another great day on Lake Tarpon in Tarpon Springs Florida. This is why we love living here along Florida's fabulous Gulf Coast! If it happens to be too windy or cool to take the boat out in the Gulf of Mexico, we have Lake Tarpon as an option.

Filled with bass that are begging to be caught, Lake Tarpon also offers two public parks that have boat ramps (Anderson Park on the west side of the lake and Chesnut Park on the east side). Naturally, there are restroom facilities in both parks and you can always dock at the Tarpon … (5 comments)

lake tarpon: Lake Tarpon, Tarpon Springs Florida - 77 degrees today! - 01/28/14 05:52 AM
We were out fishing on Lake Tarpon in Tarpon Springs Florida where it was 77 degrees at 12 noon today. Not bad considering that everyplace north of us (including northern Florida) is expecting either snow or rain and ice today! It should be freezing tonight in northern Florida but I actually got my first sunburn of the year today!

We put the boat in at the ramp located at Anderson Park directly on the western shore of Lake Tarpon. While Ronnie was fishing, I was reading the latest issue of Mother Jones. Blue skies, sunshine and the lake was as … (11 comments)

Convenient to the East Lake Area, John Chesnut Park is 255 acres of natural Florida beauty. The park is located on the eastern shore of Lake Tarpon, which is the largest lake in Pinellas County (5 miles long … (11 comments)
