Where in earth is Ozona Florida? Well, according to the local tax rolls, it has been incorporated into the town of Palm Harbor Florida! Ozona is actually west of Palm Harbor and south of Crystal Beach, right on the Gulf of Mexico. It is here that you will find the Ozona Pig - THE place for the best barbeque around!
Ron & I went there for an early dinner last night and had fantastic barbeque pork sandwiches with cole slaw! The sandwiches were out of this world!

Ozona Florida is just down the street from where I live in Crystal Beach. Both communities are directly on the Gulf of Mexico and both offer absolutely wonderful housing opportunities! Imagine living either directly on the Gulf of Mexico or within a couple of blocks from the Gulf! What could possibly top that?
Living that close to the tropical waters of the Gulf of Mexico means not only mild winters but cool breezes during those hot summer months! While those in the interior of the state are melting due to the summer heat, there is always a breeze blowing here … (2 comments)
ozona fl localism: A Lazy Labor Day Holiday!

What better way to spend the Labor Day Holiday then going fishing??? That is exactly what we did yesterday afternoon. It did not last long, about 3 hours, until we saw the DARK rain clouds rolling in from the Gulf of Mexico. So we packed up and were home before the lightening started cracking all around!
But those three hours were picture perfect! Ron caught a large trout (19 inches) and let it go again. It was really fat and he figured it was a pregnant female so he released her back into St Josephy's Sound. Before that he battled … (6 comments)

Ozona is part of Palm Harbor here in the Sunshine State! Ozona, like where I live in Crystal Beach, is directly on the Gulf of Mexico. Palm Harbor is our large sister to the east. Once you cross Alt 19, you are in Palm Harbor.
Ozona is part of Palm Harbor. It was incorporated into the City of Palm Harbor - something we here in Crystal Beach refuse to do!!! These photos are of Ozona! Ozona's older homes are being replaced more and more by larger homes. They are absolutely beautiful homes sitting on the Gulf of Mexico!

Today I was out driving around looking at homes when I came across Strachan's Homemade Ice Cream. There was no way I was going to just drive on! I know this place way too well to do that! They have the best homemade ice cream in all of Ozona! (By the way, Ozona is west of Palm Harbor in north Pinellas County) So I took a break from my noon time activities and had a scoop of maple walnut ice cream to cool off before continuing on to see more homes! These more modest homes are also located in Ozona. What I love about this one is the tin roof - the sound during a rainstorm is enchanting! Close your eyes and go back in time while you listen to the falling raindrops! This home also has some really unique stone work - remember, down in Florida, we have seashells, not stones! So when you see this, you know they were brought to this waterfront community from elsewhere!

Just west of downtown Palm Harbor is the little town of Ozona - I remember when I was a kid, it was a little fishing village with not much else there. The houses were small, cheap and if they had air conditioning at all, it was the little window units. That sure is not the case anymore! Now enormous waterfront homes have taken over-
