Lessons Learned: Blue Countertops When you buy a new construction home you get to pick the cabinets, flooring, paint color, finishes, fixtures. You can go with the builder basics to keep costs down, or you can choose upgrades. All the decisions can be overwhelming. On the other hand, it can be a lot of fun "customizing" all of these things to make the house you are buying in to your HOME. When we bought our first new construction home (now we are experienced, we've done this twice), we didn't do very many upgrades. We went very basic. Oak cabinets. How old is your home? 10 years? 15? Older? Are there things in your home that are outdated, or maybe there isn't enough living space? Do you have adequate outdoor space for entertaining in the summer? If you convert an extra bedroom in to a home office do you run out of guest space? When someone thinks about selling their home, they start to think about the things that the buyer for their home might want...granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, a finished basement, a trex deck. Maybe new exterior or interior paint. Here's my question. Why not get those projects done BEFORE (7 comments)

Hidden Gems in the Home You Live In! Often times, homeowners will make improvements or updates to their home when they are getting ready to sell. They might put in new flooring, countertops, tile work, cabinets, lighting. The list goes on and on. They may even decide to completely remodel their bathrooms or kitchens, or finish their basement.
Here’s my question. Why not do those wonderful things to your home while you are still living in it and YOU can enjoy it?? Wouldn’t it be nice to cook in a kitchen that had new appliances? Next time the (17 comments)
