Buying a house as-is does have its pro's and con's. Just make sure, as the buyer, you do your due diligence.
Usually an as-is home will be sold at a discounted price. Having a home inspection done will give you a good idea of any additional expenses you could incur with the repairs. You need to remember to factor in both the purchase price and the cost of these repairs.

News reports all seem to be talking about rising home prices. We put together a quick infographic showing historical pricing trends in the Fox Valley.
It seems St Charles, IL has taken the biggest hit since 2008 but compared to last year, sale prices are in fact increasing.
North Aurora, IL is seeing the biggest increase over last year with the average sale price currently at $244,803. This is a 15% increase over 2012.
South Elgin, IL has experienced just a slight increase from $229,026 in 2012 to a current average sale price of $234,807.
