washington dc: What's Next Door To The White House

Every day, thousands of tourists visit the White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington. At least, they stand out front and take photos, usually of a friend or family member standing at the fence. Many people never go 100 yards up the street to look at the tired old building that shares the grounds with the White House. This is the Executive Office Building which houses almost all of the President's staff and has served this function for many years. One of the benefits of living close to the major northeast cities again is that I can drive on my schedule, see what I want to see and do what I want to do on my own schedule. I'm no longer bound by Delta or US Air schedules and fare rules. Since I had no major reason to attend any of the Saturday events at MidYear, my wife and I decided to do a little historic sightseeing in the Washington area and visit some sites she had never seen.
