AS people all over our nation, including many Active Rainers continue to celebrate Black History Month, today's feature will highlight the Pan African-Film Festival (PAFF). Now in it's 17th year, the festival is renowned internationally and it's Los Angeles debut starts tonight with a special screening and reception at the Directors Guild of America located in Hollywood. The mission of he PAFF is to showcase independent films produced and directed by African-American as well as Africans all over the world. Some of you may be familar with the name and NO he is not an Active Rainer nor was he a Realtor (I don't think) but one of the great things we as Real Estate Professionals share as professionals is information and knowledge. Probably like most of my fellow Active Rainers, I'm all for a good argument or solid debate but we have been sitting on the sidelines waiting to hear some type of consensus from our political leaders regarding whatever is needed to get our economy rolling. There are pros/cons but we simply do not have time to argue this thing to death for another month, 2 months, etc. The public spoke loud and clear this past election that CHANGE was wanted. Yesterday was a remarkable day for our country as our 44th President was officially sworn in. Many, many people as estatic of Barack Obama becoming our leader and will support the "Change" he has spoken about during the past 2 years. On the other hand, some perhaps are disappointed for whatever reason as they do not like his politics, ideals, vision or other reasons............but the facts are in..........he is the President for ALL AMERICANS and I don't know about you but I am eager to support him. Today our nation celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This years celebration has drawn significance due to President elect Barack Obama also being sworn in tomorrow - January 20, 2009. Interesting, as Dr. King's work get appreciated more and more, this year many more groups and people are embracing the ideals of "King Day" and that is a Day of Service.........or you commiting a portion of day helping your local community or group. In addition to services, there will be parades, rally's and other commemorative gestures and millions here and internationally celebrate Dr. King's life.

Good Wednesday fellow Active Rainers & beyond. Today is the official birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who would have been 80 if he had been alive. While the nation will celebration the federal holiday this coming Monday, January 19th, we are proud to say Happy Birthday. Interestingly, even though Dr. King's birthday has taken new enthusiasm over the years, many forget or did not know that at his time of death, there was much controversy over his positions and philosophies, and has history has demonstrated he has become more understood in death than in life.

Maybe I'm the only nerd or goofball in the group but did anyone else notice the new look in your "home page??" Of course for me........anything new is great but since I'm relatively new to AR (less than 1 yr tenure) but I do like the way the page is formatted with the little point strip. Also, I like to see my states in comparison to others from my segmented areas. Oh well -AR is a work in progress but let the good times roll so keep thinking of ways to improve the look and flexibility of the site...........and THANK YOU … (2 comments)

One strategy of achieving my goals of 2009 is becoming better organized AND GETTING A HANDLE ON THE MANY SOCIAL/BUSINESS NETWORK sites that I use. Probably like you, my roster has been steadily increasing and while it is always good to reach out and make yourself available to new people, the facts are (at least for me) I'm at the point I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONES I BELONG TOO!!!!!! and NEED TO SPEND THE NECESSARY TIME TO GET ORGANIZED OR THE AVALANCHE OF UN ORGANIZATION WILL HIT.
