Staging homes for sale is the most emotionally challenging part of my work. As a Westchester County Interior Decorator and Designer, most of my clients hire me to help them make memories. But when I stage a home, I am most often called in to dismantle them. I wrote a post on February 11, 2014 about a very neglected house that needed to be emptied of its past and made ready for the future. As a Westchester County Interior Decorator and Designer, I try to build long term relationships with my clients. Decorating their homes is a long term process where we buy, collect, design and display. It takes time and patience on all our parts. Sometimes we become friends and they invite me over to enjoy the fruits of my labor.
And then, 8 years down the road, they decide to sell and undecorating their home becomes an even greater challenge! They think they need some editing and in fact, they do! Because living in a house is different than getting it ready for someone (26 comments)

Yes, I am an interior decorator and a home stager. And yes, I work with furniture, all kinds. But honestly, renting furniture for a vacant home in order to "stage to sell" is my least favorite activity. Got a minute? I've been working, since December 1, on getting a gorgeous arts and crafts bungalow ready for sale. It's a divorce - the house is vacant - and the exes are each resituated in their new separate homes. Neither wants to lend me furniture to give their former marital abode a little warmth and personality, because each is afraid the other might (23 comments)
