westchester county home staging: STAGING A HOUSE IS A LABOR OF LOVE - PART 2 - Ardsley NY 10502 - 06/12/14 01:00 PM
Staging homes for sale is the most emotionally challenging part of my work.  As a Westchester County Interior Decorator and Designer, most of my clients hire me to help them make memories.  But when I stage a home, I am most often called in to dismantle them.
I wrote a post on February 11, 2014 about a very neglected house that needed to be emptied of its past and made ready for the future.  At that time, the mother of my client had passed away and the father was in a nursing home.
Needless to say, it's been a slow and arduous … (40 comments)

westchester county home staging: Staging FAQ's- Why Do I Have to Worry About the Garage? - 01/26/14 10:32 PM

There is no doubt about it, the gargae is not an afterthought!  Buyers looking to house their cars, their bicycles or just extra tools and supplies want to know that there is a viable and well cared for space for them.  Kathy Streib, Room Service! Home Staging of Palm Beach County makes the argument for worrying about this critical space.
This repost has been brought to you by Joanna Cohlan, Fresh Eyes For Your Home.

westchester county home staging: RANTING ABOUT RENTING (Furniture) - Chappaqua 10514 - 01/17/13 07:26 AM
Yes, I am an interior decorator and a home stager.  And yes, I work with furniture, all kinds.  But honestly, renting furniture for a vacant home in order to "stage to sell" is my least favorite activity. Got a minute?
I've been working, since December 1, on getting a gorgeous arts and crafts bungalow ready for sale.  It's a divorce - the house is vacant - and the exes are each resituated in their new separate homes.  Neither wants to lend me furniture to give their former marital abode a little warmth and personality, because each is afraid the other might … (23 comments)

It's official, and I just found out today, that Fresh Eyes For Your Home is an Angie's List 2012 Super Service Award Winner and I am beaming.
Honestly, I really am excited and I want to give a special shout out to Debbie Gartner, The Flooring Girl, who encouraged me to try Angie's List to help expand my business.  It's worked, I've gotten leads and closed business and getting the award is the icing on the cake!  I'm delighted that my clients who belong to Angie's List made the effort to review me.
Just thought I'd share!

westchester county home staging: RESALE READY IN CROTON ON HUDSON - 10520 - 11/16/12 12:02 AM
That house in Croton on Hudson that required a lot of handholding? Well, it made its debut yesterday with a Realtor Open House and let me tell you, what a coming out party!
A recap:
The house is a early 20th century farmhouse with lots of detail.  It was filled to the brim and the estate sale was a lot of work and took a lot of time.
We emptied the house of the remaining furniture and put a few pieces in storage to use for staging.
The carpets were removed on the first floor to reveal incredible burled maple flooring. … (28 comments)

westchester county home staging: FRESH EYES IS STAGING A HOUSE IN STAGES - CROTON-HUDSON 10520 - 10/19/12 02:50 AM
This Croton-on-Hudson staging project has required a lot of handholding, but is progressing as I write.
As you can see from the photos, the furniture has been removed, much of it because of a successful estate sale last month.  What remained was picked up and hauled away so that the walls could be painted Linen White with Super White trim (Benjamin Moore) to really brighten the space.
The carpeting has been removed and the flooring girl has sent her crew in to do their magic.  They are sanding and refinishing 115 year old pine floors in the living room, and, … (27 comments)

westchester county home staging: STAGING A HOUSE IS SOMETIMES IN STAGES -CROTON-ON HUDSON -10520 - 09/10/12 07:41 AM
Sometimes staging a house for sale literally happens in stages.  As a Westchester County Interior Designer and Home Stager, that’s how it’s unfolding for me, with my newest Croton-on-Hudson clients.
A wonderful couple, two doctors as a matter of fact, and this, their second home, is filled to the brim.  All of the things that they could not fit into their Upper East Side apartment, landed here and they have enjoyed them all for many years.
But at 83 and 91, it’s time to sell the house and part with many of these wonderful pieces.  Artwork, travel mementos, a gorgeous baby grand piano, … (17 comments)

westchester county home staging: A KITCHEN GETS A FACELIFT - South Salem 10590 - 06/24/12 11:41 AM
The Village of South Salem in the Town of Lewisboro, is a beautiful section of Westchester County.  Rolling hills, lots of horse farms and charming stone walls surround many of the houses.
As a Westchester County interior design consultancy, Fresh Eyes For Your Home does work for clients who live north, south east and west.  While the oak cabinetry in this eat in kitchen was lovely and well maintained, a number of leaks had done damage to the ceiling and my client was ready to make a complete change. A gorgeous new light fixture, a wonderful new rug and a fabulous … (18 comments)

westchester county home staging: Armonk NY - Re-Marketing a House Requires Fresh Eyes - 02/24/12 05:53 AM
Successful partnerships go a long way.  And when they come from Active Rain, they are even better.  This month, Debbie Gartner, The Flooring Girl, helped me get a house in Armonk, NY, resale ready.A little historyThe house has been on the market and has not sold.  The owners have moved on to their new, custom  home in Asheville, NC.  And, their wonderful Realtor knew that the house needed a professional opinion, so she called me in as a Westchester County home stager and interior decorator, to get my take. What the house really needed was a fresh pair of eyes.  While most … (35 comments)
