Another great announcement came from the US Department of the Air Force this week in regards to Cyber Command! The base where it will be headquartered will not be announced for a while and no longer are only a few cities being considered, but over 15 are being looked at. My favorite announcement...They are going to put a plan in place to select which city will get the home of Cyber Command! Our local market in Shreveport and Bossier City is very strong. As a whole, we are off 4.1% from a year ago. I know most of the press is leading people to believe the sky is falling, but here in Shreveport and Bossier City, the time is good to buy or sell real estate. This week thousands will visit Bossier City and Shreveport to look at and talk about what Cyber Command will look like in years to come. According the press, over 200 companies will be in Shreveport and Bossier City for a meeting and meet and great in the next few days. Cyber Command, which is scheduled to be built pretty close to Barksdale Air Force Base will have a big impact on the way this country deals with terror in the future, and it will have a major impact on the economy of Shreveport and Bossier City. The news would have Real Estate agents believing that the market here has gone to the pot! The best advice I can give to agents in Northwest Louisiana is to turn the news off and stop reading the newspaper. After pulling all the numbers from the past three years, here is what is really going on in our market. Comparing Jan 1st through October 31st 2006 to the same months of 2007 we have seen a 4.1% decrease in closed transactions. That means that there has been almost no change in our market. After much hype and anticipation, Bossier City and really all of Shreveport and Bossier City Louisiana were really let down in the past two weeks to find out that no real decision has been made on where Cyber Command is going to land. What we do know is that it is going to start right here in Shreveport and Bossier City near Barksdale Air Force Base. We also know that 4 or 5 other cities are lobbying for the final home.
