mount pleasant south carolina: Census 2010 Results
- 03/24/11 03:06 AM
The 2010 Census results are in and thanks to my local newspaper, The Post and Courier I can report that my metro Charleston city, Mount Pleasant is now the 4th largest city in the state of South Carolina and grew by 43%. That's really not a big surprise as we have seen our schools bulge at the seams and neighborhoods spring up. I've been here since 1996 and the growth seems amazing to me. I can only imagine what the native Charlestonians think. Charleston County grew by 13% and was among 10 counties that grew less than the state as a whole. (0 comments)

Fall is here and the cool breeze is finally at the beach in Charleston, South Carolina. It's pumpkin time. Need one? Go to Boone Hall off Highway 41 in Mount Pleasant and enjoy the pumpkin patch and the Halloween events. Fun for all ages. A cool amd welcome breeze has hit the housing market too. Standard and Poor's Case-Shiller index reported during the first week of September that home prices were up in 15 of the top metropolitan areas. There was a nationwide gain of 4.2 percent over the same time last year. Interest rates are at all time low and (2 comments)

I love where I live. Yes, I live in metro Charleston, South Carolina just 12 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean but I love it here for other reasons too. We have a sense of humor, a sense of joy and a sense of who we are and where we came from. The Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park under the Arthur Ravenel bridge is a tribute to our service people and the lives lost but also to our future. To the children that play there now and will in years to come. To the people that fish from the pier and to all the (0 comments)

mount pleasant south carolina: Home Sweet Home-Dunes West, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
- 06/19/10 08:28 AM
I live in the gated golf course community of Dunes West in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, a suburb of Charleston. Our neighborhood is the largest gated community in the area. Why do I live in a gated community? Simple, it's where the house I liked is. When we moved here in 1996 my little area of courtyard homes was just getting started and I wanted to buy the model home. The builder had no real desire to sell so my husband and the agent wrote 5 contracts before they finally secured my home for me....yes for me. I did not want (0 comments)
mount pleasant south carolina: Personal Trumps Tech in Charleston, South Carolina

When I moved to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, a suburb of Charleston from Atlanta in 1996 real estate agents here were still carrying the MLS book and opening their lock boxes with a clunky key. Few had cell phones and even fewer had computers. It seemed to me that Atlanta was light years ahead. I was used to getting it done fast as in over the internet at the speed of "tech" fast and Interstate 75 and 285 at 60 or more miles an hour fast. Welcome to the Lowcountry. I found that fast meant getting it done well with a Charleston (0 comments)
mount pleasant south carolina: The trailing spouse adventure. Verse 1
- 05/31/10 06:36 AM
Back in the day I was a "trailing spouse". To those of you young ones that meant as my spouse was transferred or changed jobs I "trailed" behind with children (or prior to) in tow. It could be said it meant I had little if any identity but have no fear, that did not apply to me. The first "trail" led us from New York City to Kansas City, MO with no children. We lived in an apartment with lots of other young marrieds (mostly). I learned to play a mean game of tennis and we played poker on Friday nights. I (0 comments)
