realtors: E-Notarization now allowed in Washington State - 03/26/20 08:56 AM

This week, Washington State’s Governor Inslee signed an emergency proclamation allowing e-notarizations.  Our Washington REALTORS® and other organizations worked to accelerate this order, which was already planned to be in place by October 1st of this year, but was moved up to now due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the current Stay Home, Stay Safe mandate issued earlier this week.

E-Notarizations have been available for cash buyers, but now all parties to a transaction will be able to e-sign and have the notary stamp the documents electronically.

The signers will need to appear before the notary through a Skype-like technology and will still … (4 comments)

realtors: Legislative Day 2019 a Success in Olympia WA! - 01/25/19 02:33 PM

This past Thursday, I and my REALTOR® colleagues from around Washington State (about 500 of us!) were adorned in our “Unlock the Door” blue scarves as we visited with our local senators and representatives on the Capitol campus.

This photo is just a handful of us on the steps of the Legislative Building.  (I’m the one in the blue scarf near the right!  This photo is from warealtor.org.)

I and my Thurston County REALTORS® met with Senator Sam Hunt of the 22nd District.  He and his intern (and I apologize, I did not catch his name) spent quite a bit of time with … (2 comments)

realtors: Washington REALTORS® Go to the Hill for Legislative Day January 24, 2019 - 01/14/19 01:57 PM

Washington REALTORS® from around the state will be gathering in Olympia, WA at our state’s capital to join in Legislative Day 2019.

REALTORS® and the REALTORS® associations work with elected officials in promoting and protecting homeownership.  On January 24, 2019, REALTORS® will defend the industry by gathering to talk with elected officials on seven main points in the Unlock the Door campaign (www.unlockthedoorwa.com). In summary, this campaign is tackling the lack of housing opportunities in Washington State.  Washington REALTORS® are working with non- and for-profits to work with our elected officials on legislation regarding these seven main points:

realtors: Thurston County Food Bank in Olympia WA doing a world of good this holiday season - 12/19/18 12:02 PM

Yesterday, my firm, Coldwell Banker Evergreen Olympic Realty presented our annual donation to the Thurston County Food Bank in downtown Olympia WA and then we rolled up our sleeves and helped out.

Here we are at the food bank with Judy Jones, the Operations Manager, and my broker, Ken Anderson presenting her with our check.

The Thurston County Food Bank operates to make sure that 97% of donations go to the food bank and the recipients, with only 3% for administrative costs.  How many charities can boast that kind of number?!

And it was astonishing to hear what the food bank can do with … (12 comments)

realtors: Coldwell Banker's Gingerbread House Contest 2018 - 12/13/18 04:30 PM
This year my brokerage, Coldwell Banker Evergreen Olympic Realty in Olympia, WA, tasked the agents and staff to create gingerbread houses.  Not too surprising, we took this contest to the next level!

Here are the entries:

First Place - a replica of our office - created by Cheri, Richard, Bruce, and Kelly.  (The 50-year candle represents our firm's birthday.  Our office was established in 1968.)

Second Place went to our staff with their beach vacation scene.  Created by Kathy, Jerrie, Lisa, Dana, and Jamie.

Third Place went to CB for her coffee war statement.  A local coffee shop is … (18 comments)

realtors: Thurston County Realtors Association celebrating volunteering - 12/07/18 12:12 PM
Yesterday was the general meeting for Thurston County REALTORS® in Olympia, WA.  This last meeting of the year is always a fun one.  Not only are the new directors inducted (I'm a new director this year for REALTORS®) and we have a new president, but we also celebrated the volunteering our group does individually and as a whole.

We were happy to present the Thurston County Food Bank with a check for $6,000.  These funds were raised from our fall golf course event.

We also had a wreath auction this year where the winning bids went to the charities of the winner's choice.  … (5 comments)

realtors: Getting involved in my local REALTORS Government Affairs Committee! - 01/26/18 02:56 PM
Today was my first meeting of the Thurston County REALTORS Association Government Affairs Committee.  And yes, it was as exciting as this picture depicts!!  :-)

But all kidding aside, I'm excited to be a part of this committee because this is really why being a REALTOR (over just a real estate agent) is so important:  this committee works directly on issues that impact homeowners and future homeowners.

As a committee, we will interview local candidates running for office, vote to endorse or not endorse candidates, attend city and county council meetings to learn what's ahead,  and educate our colleagues on what is happening on … (4 comments)

The competition is FIERCE this year amongst the brokers at Coldwell Banker Evergreen Olympic Realty in Olympia WA on Ugly Christmas Sweater Day 2017!

We don't need to have a fancy party to have fun!  This is a great group of people who I consider to be not only my trusted colleagues but also my friends. I'm fortunate to work with a great group of people!

We celebrated Ugly Christmas Sweater Day 2017 with a potluck in our transformed lunchroom and spent the previous days and weeks decorating our workspaces.  It definitely looks like Christmas with all of our decorations and we had … (5 comments)

realtors: Watch what happens with a Dunk Tank at the company party - summer 2017! - 08/30/17 10:16 AM
What do Realtors do at their summer parties?  Well, at Coldwell Banker Evergreen Olympic Realty in Olympia, WA, we dunk the people we love!

Our broker hosted the annual party at his house (Brave Act #1), and then had a dunk tank (Brave Act #2) at the party.

Our soft-spoken and beloved bookkeeper, Dana, actually volunteered to go first.  Most of us (the smart ones!) were hesitant to even try to dunk her since she is the one who cuts our commission checks.
Then it was our broker's turn.  Who knew how much fun that ended up being?!!   Check it out!

If you listen closely, … (1 comments)

Every year, my brokerage Coldwell Banker Evergreen Olympic Realty in Olympia, WA participates in the Salvation Army Bell Ringing to raise money to support Thurston County residents who need help the most.  In fact, 96% of the donations raised will go directly to families in Thurston County.

Our brokerage had Realtors volunteer from 10 AM to 6 PM on December 4, 2015 at the Cleveland Avenue Safeway in Olympia, WA.  We sang, wished everyone a Merry Christmas, handed out candy canes, and even helped wrangle a few shopping carts for shoppers! (Stay tuned for the final tally of what we were able to raise in a … (7 comments)
