It’s no doubt it has been a tough couple of weeks.  I’m hoping this soothing photo can help.

Our daily lives have been impacted and disrupted, and these times are certainly unnerving.  But as history has proved to us, we will bounce back.  We made it through many crises before and we will make it through this one.

How is the Coronavirus affecting the Thurston County, WA real estate market?

Interest Rates.  If there is a silver lining with this crisis, it is interest rates.  With the Federal Reserve’s slashing of costs to borrow, homebuyers are poised to benefit from lower interest rates.  Currently, … (2 comments)

thurston county wa: How are my Thurston County, WA Real Estate Property Taxes Determined? - 07/03/18 04:39 PM
How are my Thurston County, WA real estate property taxes determined?Every year, Thurston County, WA homeowners get a notice of their assessed value and how much their property taxes will be for the year.  If you track your property tax values, you’ll see that they go up and down every year, and don’t seem to be based on current market values (which is a good thing, and I’ll explain why later in this post).
First, let’s discuss the tax collection budget.

Let’s pretend we have a small town where there are only four homes.
The assessed values for the homes LAST YEAR … (2 comments)

thurston county wa: Getting involved in my local REALTORS Government Affairs Committee! - 01/26/18 02:56 PM
Today was my first meeting of the Thurston County REALTORS Association Government Affairs Committee.  And yes, it was as exciting as this picture depicts!!  :-)

But all kidding aside, I'm excited to be a part of this committee because this is really why being a REALTOR (over just a real estate agent) is so important:  this committee works directly on issues that impact homeowners and future homeowners.

As a committee, we will interview local candidates running for office, vote to endorse or not endorse candidates, attend city and county council meetings to learn what's ahead,  and educate our colleagues on what is happening on … (4 comments)

February 2017 was filled with love in Olympia WA as home buyers came out in the rain, sleet, snow and hail and purchased homes!

Many sellers in Olympia WA (in Thurston County) were wooed and pursued by several buyers who offered expensive purchase prices, took off their contingencies and proved their commitment by using a reputable local lender.  Yes, this market is sexier than a steamy romance novel!  Check out these record-breaking love connections:

February 2017 was THE February of all Februarys.
Thurston County sold the most homes this February than all other Februarys with 294 sales.  The second closest year to this record was in 2006 … (1 comments)

The Thurston County WA real estate market for Fall 2014 has continued on a positive trend of increasing home sale prices and strong buyer activity.
The Thurston County real estate market has been through its trials since the downturn in the summer of 2008 to the summer of 2013.  Sixty months of decline was going to take some effort to stop and turn around, and for the last 19 months, Thurston County saw consistent gains in average home sales prices.

thurston county wa: Going Bagless in Olympia WA - 05/30/14 08:49 AM
Mark your calendars, Thurston County Washingtonians:
on July 1, 2014, single-use plastic bags will be banned

I love my reusable bags.
This ban is not only a smart move towards a healthier environment but it's an easy change for most consumers because the reusable bags are far superior to thin plastic bags.  The reusable bags can hold more groceries, stay upright in the car, and they are much easier to handle.  So I am in favor of this ban, however, there are quite a few rules that really take the enthusiasm out of saving the environment.

Just bring your own bag.  It's really just that simple....sort … (3 comments)
