Jensen Beach Christmas Decorations I didn't think you'd want a second year of seeing my Hanukkah Menorah, so I took a short drive to Jensen Beach to show you how one of our local residents decorates for Christmas. This oceanfront home has a main residence that contains 20,000+ square feet of living space and 50,000+ including garages and decks. The mansion reportedly cost $8 million to build and includes 42 Gothic columns, 11 domes, 11 rotundas, 4 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, and 8 entertainment rooms. The property also includes an 11,500 (included in the 50,000 total square footage) guest house complete with 4 bedrooms and 5 1/2 baths. Here's (19 comments)
I was recently very pleasantly surprised to learn how letters to Santa are handled by the Fort Pierce FL post office. Thanks to Georgia Parsons, supervisor of customer relations at the Fort Pierce Post Office, here's what they do. They have received about 200 letters to Santa this year. Every child gets a reply written by local volunteers and a small plastic bag marked 'reindeer oats.' In all, there are 25 variations of responses for letters received too early, to those right on time, to letters that arrived too late. Here are some excerpts: (24 comments)

Stuart Florida Christmas Parade 2012 For 2012, it’s the 52′nd annual Stuart Florida Christmas parade in downtown Stuart on Friday, December 7 starting at 7 PM. We’re anticipating nice balmy weather so bring your chairs and maybe a sweater and pick your favorite spot on East Ocean Blvd to watch the much anticipated annual parade. This year’s theme for the Christmas parade is “Christmas by the Sea”. Look for the almost 50 floats to be pulled by dolphins and fish instead of the traditional reindeer. christmas: There’s Hope in My Stocking!
- 12/24/09 03:44 AM
This will be a much leaner Christmas. Fewer wrappings and Hallmark greetings ... fewer parties with champagne and cheese puffs ... more “staying home” with hot cocoa, leftover ham, fruit cake and Bret Favre. If you’re like me who reminisces, this can be a most abundant season, to live out those filtered memories in real time. More togetherness, laughter and family games. Late night solace with private thoughts and dreams. Soft, colorful lights pierce the blackness as I sit fireside -- a kindling of faith, hope, love. Faith and love -- they’re sometimes elusive, but never hopefulness. Hope is everywhere. It is a perfect gift....

- 12/23/09 11:04 PM
Nutcrackers stand along with bags of walnuts, pecans, and filberts waiting to be cracked. Historians say Aristotle possessed one around 330 B.C., but the wooden standing-man versions were first seen in the Erzgebirge area of Germany during the 1700s. They were known as "nut-biters." Two moving arms on the back of the head allowed the lower jaw to push the nut against the upper jaw freeing the fruit inside. According to German lore, nutcrackers were given as presents to bring good luck to a family and act as protectors throughout the year. In 1872, Wilhelm Fuchtner, known as the "father (11 comments)

As we get into the Holiday season, it's good to remember the meaning behind it. Here's some traditional Christmas Quotes that help me, and hopefully you'll find them useful also:
Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas time. Laura Ingalls Wilder
