ash creek: Black Rock CT Has Great Natural Beauty - 02/01/12 02:29 AM
Black Rock has great natural beauty unusual in an urban area.  Black Rock is located in Fairfield County, Connecticut along the coastline.  It has a harbor (Black Rock Harbor), a marina (Captain's Cove), a public boat launch, a sandy beach on Seabright Avenue, and two yacht clubs (Black Rock Yacht Club and the Fayerweather Yacht Club).
Black Rock also has a beatuiful tidal estuary that has been preserved and protected by residents for over 60 years.  I'm presently the President of the Ash Creek Conservation Association, a small grassroots non-profit organization.  We have an 8 member board and work closely the … (1 comments)

ash creek: Pro HDR iPhone App - 08/17/11 02:20 PM
I purchased the Pro HDR iPhone app for my iPhone 4 (cost $1.99) as it was mentioned by other agents on other sites as being one of their favorite apps.  The iPhone 4 already has a built in HDR app, so I thought I would provide a comparison of a normal photo, an HDR photo using the built-in HDR app, and a Pro HDR photo.  I took a photo tonight while I was on my evening walk and the sun was just starting to go down.  I tried to keep the phone in the same position, but I did have to move … (16 comments)

On May 15, 2008 at 6:30 PM, Connecticut Audubon's Milan Bull, led a guided tour of the spring migration of shorebirds along the Ash Creek tidal estuary. Kraig Steffen, Vice President of the Ash Creek Conservation Association (co-sponsor of the event) created this photo journal of the bird tour:
We started out near the sand spit at St Mary's in the light rain.

ash creek: Ash Creek Clean Up Day on April 26, 2008 - 04/30/08 10:39 AM
On Sunday, April 26 over two dozen volunteers gathered to assist in the annual Ash Creek Clean up, including members of the Ash Creek Conservation Association, Save the Sound, and the Westport Unitarian Church. Ash Creek Conservation Association Vice President, Kraig Steffen took these Flip Video clips of this year's Ash Creek Clean Up.  We think at least one of them should be sent into America's Funniest Home videos, but maybe two of them qualify.  What do you think?
