So I just closed a house in San Jose where I listed for $930K and we accepted a cash offer for $935K in 1 week on the MLS and my fee was over $20K. It was a Trust not a probate as I work both but the POINT of this blog is that it was a referral to me from a Probate Attorney I have worked with and earned the right for the law office to submit my name with other agents for the Seller to consider. I had a Agent email me after I wrote an article on how great the EXP Realty program was and is the reason I left ReMax and Hall of Fame Agent Status. This agent mentioned what I failed to understand was he was receiving FREE MONEY to work at his company (Profit Share). I will agree I know this business model well as many of my friends have worked there but most left because profit share was based on NET PROFIT after all the office expenses where paid. Today in 2015 I rarely go to the court for a probate confirmation of sale as 90% of probates go through the I.A.E.A in California and there is no reason for all this red tape but on a recent one I had to. I had originally tried to buy the property but the estate after hearing their options decided the MLS was the way they needed to go because of heir problems.
