Día De La Candelaria Yesterday was a holiday here in Mexico called Día de la Candelaria. It basically is the same as Candlemas, which is the "Presentation of Christ in the Temple".You may be familiar with the custom of taking candles to the church to be blessed. I met an angel recently -- actually, I met lots of angels. I was in front of the General Hospital in Tijuana. At about noon, two vans, two pickups and several cars arrived and a group of people started unloading tables, a couple of food carts, food and drinks. Soon they were serving tacos and punch. A crowd quickly gathered. We thought the tacos looked good and joined the line. But to our surprise, the food and drinks were free.

Today is Veterans Day --- But as many as 30,000 Veterans can not enjoy it in the United States. They have been sent to at least 30 other countries and can not return to the country they love.
THEY HAVE BEEN DEPORTED.
Sent back to countries they may not even remember. Sent back to countries where they may not even know the language. Sent back after being promised a fast track to citizenship.
Many were infants when they came to the US. They grew up in the US. They attended school in the US. They raised families in the US.
These are individuals who, at one point, wrote a blank check made payable to ‘The United States of America’ for an amount of ‘up to and including their life.’
As a Veteran, I know they were there for you and for me. I know others in my unit were from other countries and I know they backed me up.
