photography: Tijuana Cultural Center - 01/22/16 12:44 PM

Tijuana, Mexico has a great cultural center.  It is called CECUT and is located in the Zona Rio.  There are three major permanent things to see.

Most noticeable is the OMNIMAX cinema known as "La Bola" ("The Ball"). Anothe huge building is  "El Cubo" (The Cube),  And in between the two, you will find the   building housing permanent exhibition, called "Museo de las Californias",  One other feature is the  "Jardin Caracol (Snail Garden)",

The Museo de las Californias has exhibits which show the history of Baja California and the US state of California from prehistoric times up to … (0 comments)

photography: Speechless Sunday - Independence Rock - 10/25/15 03:36 AM

Independence Rock was one of three major landmarks along the Pioneer Trail in Wyoming.  The others were Split Rock and Devil's Gate.  yesterday I posted a photo of Devil's Gate (The name was incorrect in the post because I had been told it was Split Rock  - I have now corrected it)
Here are some photos from Independence Rock:

photography: Motivational Monday -- Even This Guy Will Stick His Neck Out - 10/19/15 02:53 AM
It is interesting how difficult it is for us to stick our necks out and try things.
I saw this guy in the yard and as i watched him move, I realized that he had to stick his neck out to move ahead.
The same is true for all of us.

photography: friday's fotos -- What Stories Do They Have? - 10/16/15 11:31 AM
If these old wagon wheels could talk, they would certainly have some interesting tales to tell of the past --- and maybe even of the future.
I took the two photos in the abandoned town of South Pass City in the mountains of Wyoming.
The second is digitally modified to give a different mood -- perhaps a view of the future.

Which photo is your favorite?

I was excited to get a photo of these two fawns right after I took the photo of the big buck in the cemetery in Salt Lake City.  I posted it earlier today and you can see him here:

photography: Fridays's Fotos -- A Big Surprise - 08/17/12 08:31 AM
I was recently at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah and saw this magnificent buck in a cemetery which is just down the street.  I was really amazed to see him there enjoying the big city.

photography: This Isn't Las Vegas - 02/03/12 01:11 PM

This isn't Las Vegas.  It seems that often it is assumed that since I am from Las Vegas that all my photos will be from Las Vegas.  Today I had a chance to watch sled dog races in Southwestern Wyoming.  The Race ran from Jackson Hole, Wyoming to Park City, Utah. I really enjoyed the race except I forgot my snowshoes and when I decided I wanted to get closer for photos to share, I had to struggle a couple  of hundred yards through chest deep snow. I hope you think the photos are worth it.

photography: Recap for Weeks 3 & 4 of 2012 with Update on Yazmine - 01/29/12 06:32 AM
The December Posting Challenge kept many of us in touch and I am continuing with a recap each week. I'm behind so here is the recap for weeks three and four of 2012.
My office manager Yazmine (a Siamese and great friend) has developed severe kidney problems and many of you have asked me to continue updates.
Yazmine has been doing much better.  I have been giving her subcutaneous fluids most days.  Most of the time she doesn't seem to mind the needle but once in a while her little meow sounds just like someone saying ouch.  Today I was … (11 comments)

photography: The Castillo San Juan de Ulúa - 01/22/12 08:04 AM

The Castillo San Juan de Ulúa has been a castle, a fortress, a prison and the site where parts of a major movie were filmed.
It is part of the City of Veracruz, Mexico and is the island where the first Spanish landed as they conquered Mexico.
As a fort it has protected the city from attacks by the British, the Dutch, the French and even the United States.
Fort San Juan de Ulúa was started in 1582 and completed in 1707.  It is now a museum which can be reached by boat or a bridge from … (26 comments)

photography: Recap for Week 2 of 2012 with Update on Yazmine - 01/17/12 02:01 PM
The December Posting Challenge kept many of us in touch and I am continuing with a recap each week. This is for week two of 2012.
My office manager Yazmine (a Siamese and great friend) has developed severe kidney problems and many of you have asked me to continue updates.
All the prayers and thoughts from everyone here in the Rain seem to be helping.  Yazmine had a good week.  She has her good days and some that are not so good. She seems more alert each day and gradually her strength is building but she is still skin and … (14 comments)

photography: Recap for Week 1 of 2012 with Update on Yazmine - 01/08/12 03:55 PM

I enjoyed the way the December Posting Challenge kept many of us in touch with each other and have decided to start posting a recap each week.
During December, I kept including progress reports on Yazmine (my office manager, Siamese and great friend) who has developed severe kidney problems and I have had a number of members asking about her this week.
Yazmine continues to battle and I try my best to take care of her.  She is 18 years old and Siamese cats do often have kidney failure.  When I took her to the vet just after Thanksgiving … (18 comments)
