Auction Items for the GVBOR "Feed the Need" Food Drive
The Greenbrier Valley Board of Realtors (GVBOR) “Feed the Need” Community Food Drive always ends with a live auction during the Board’s Christmas luncheon.  This year the luncheon/auction will be held on Tuesday, December 9th at the Elks Country Club in Lewisburg, WV.  Auction items have been donated by local businesses in the area.  All proceeds from the auction will go to local food banks. GVBOR members and affiliates will have a chance to bid on the auction items.  Below are the donations received so far:

Cooper Gallery, a showcase for contemporary and traditional art, will be welcoming Max Hayslette as he and Dale Tincher, officially present the donated original painting of 'The Meadow River Lumber Mill, Rainelle, WV' to the North House Museum's directors for permanent display in the Museum.  Dale Tincher from Raleigh, NC, a 1964 Rainelle High School graduate, purchased Max Hayslette's original painting.

Max Hayslette’s original 18” x 24” framed oil painting of the Meadow River Lumber Company with a market value of $4,500, was formally presented by Marilyn Cooper, exclusive area representative for Max Hayslette at the Cooper Gallery in Lewisburg, West Viirginia, to the Rainelle Area Planning Commission’s Restoration Project.  The event was held Thursday, December 9th at at the newly-renovated City National Bank building in Rainelle, WV.

OH Yes, Pepper Talks!

You can see this talking parrot at the Cooper Gallery in Lewisburg, West Virginia.  She talks a lot, mimics  cats, dogs, and some people. She loves to whistle and is quite a talker.  I always have to say hello to her whenever I stop in to visit my friends Marilyn and Gary Cooper.   But, watch out don't put you fingers too close, as she has been known to bite a few patron's fingers.

When one hears the name Gary Cooper, most  automatically think of the movie star......
But, the Gary Cooper I am writing about is the one that is a photographer in Lewisburg, West Virginia.  Although born in York, Alabama, he considers his home town as Mobile.  “Most of my nature photography has been done since my wife Marilyn (a native West Virginian) and I moved to Lewisburg during the summer of 1991 following my retirement as Professor of Environmental Health at the University of Cincinnati,” says Cooper.  He trained in neurophysiology and concentrated his research in neurotoxicology.  Cooper has gone from studying … (20 comments)

On Lewisburg's First Friday, September 4, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm., the Cooper Gallery is hosting an artist reception for Max Hayslette.   Max Hayslette is a former West Virginian.  He was born in Rupert in 1930.  He had his first art show at the age of 16 in Rainelle, West Virginia.  This year, Mr. Hayslette celebrates his 80th birthday.

CASA hosted its third annual "A Child's Hope" benefit wine and cheese reception on Friday, April 24th at the Cooper Gallery in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
