The Greenbrier Valley Theatre, the State Professional Theater of West Virginia, held its 16th Annual Art and Benefit Auction on Saturday, July 17, 2010.  The auction was a huge success. 
 
There was a wine and Hors D'oeuvre preview party held one hour before the auction which provided attendees time to browse the artwork in advance.  The admission was $10 and was applied to any art auction purchase.

Monica Foos is the owner of this B&B located in Greenbrier County.  Just down the road, about a mile, is the beautiful Greenbrier Resort.

For 25 years, Carnegie Hall, Lewisburg has operated as a regional center for the visual and performing arts.  Such notable performers as Taj Mahal, Gillian Welch, and Issac Stern have performed on its historic stage.  The next big event will be the 2009 Fantasy in White Fundraiser.

And, one is in my town.... Lewisburg, West Virginia.  Nestled in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains lies this rare, historic treasure!  Lewisburg, West Virginia is home to one of only four Carnegie Halls still in continuous use in the world.  The other three are located in New York, Scotland, and Pennsylvania.

If you missed my post yesterday, Come One, Come All to the 22nd Annual River Festival in Ronceverte, WV, here is some important informantion for area musicians.
On Saturday, June 13, Bluegrass "Battle of the Bands" will be held at the festival.  This contest will allow area musicians to display their talent.  Each band will be given 20 minutes to play and will be evaluated by local and outside judges.  The battle of the bands will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
First place prize includes $150 cash; a trophy that the winning band holds for one year until the next festival; … (3 comments)

If you haven't been to Historic Downtown Lewisburg on the first Friday of the month, you are missing out on some fun. 
First Fridays after Five is a Lewisburg tradition and takes place all year long with shops, galleries and restaurants that stay open until 9 pm serving complimentary refreshments and entertainment.  June 5th  starts the summer with outdoor and indoor live music, artist receptions, fun and refreshments!  The event, as always, is free to the public.  Everyone is welcome!
