The Studio Shows accentuate what the potter, Jeff Diehl has been working on, as well as, providing a glimpse of what goes into producing the work. Typically, Jeff has an off the “wheel” activity for customers to participate in, be it glazing a vase and watching it being fired in a raku kiln, throwing on a treadle wheel, making bricks, or competing in an unconventional contest for a pottery prize. I attended the Lockbridge Pottery Studio Labor Day Show. It was a beautiful day for a ride in the country. While driving on I-64 I noticed to my amazement that the leaves from the trees are already turning the bright red and golden colors. I was driving so couldn’t get a photo.
I arrived around 3 pm, and the show special, a new porcelain wall vase, priced at $48.00 , was sold out. Not to worry, Jeff Diehl, will be making more and promised to save one for me.
