Fishhawk Lake- Kids, Dogs, Ducks and Dragonflies Took to the pontoon with the pups to soak in some sun and read my latest memoir, The Boys in the Boat (how fitting, right?) and several opportunities arose for photo ops. Being across from the clubhouse, there are groupings of adults and kids of varying ages playing at the beach and taking to the waters on this hot and windless day. Sounds always travel and so I often hear (very clearly) what is being said across the waters. I heard squealing from some young girls as they were swimming, "Mom, it's really COLD!" Fishhawk Lake-The Draw of Dragonflies Not sure what it is that people love about these bugs, but they seem to stand above many others. People are drawn to them rather than being repelled by them. They are revered in art all of the time from the physical to the fantastical. They don't "bug" people by buzzing around their heads or zipping by in a precarious fashion. They seem to beam, and float, and shine, and they don't fly away immediately as you get closer to them. They actually LAND and enjoy staying put and having their picture taken!
