I was lucky enough to be nearby with a somewhat steady hand. Ahhh, spring! A birder’s paradise! Time for the zing-zing sound of Hummingbirds zipping by at warp speed! The glitter and shimmer of the Rufous Hummingbird at its whopping 3&3/4 inches in length, it still rules the air with speed and aggression! Both males (pictured above) and females do this They protect their food sources with ferocity!

Bird-Day at the Ranch-The Ban Tailed Pigeon It was getting late, heading into dusk and the birds were hunkering down very high up in the trees. I pulled out my camera and from at least a football field's length away and in a thirty foot high tree I captured one bird. I had to sit down in the field and get a steady hand because it was SOOOOOO far away and I used my 1200 zoom on my Canon SX50 for this. I thought it was a mourning dove (so did some of my other bird buddies, Dick Greenberg and Debb Janes ), but after doing (10 comments)
