One of my biggest regrets is not having purchased a home in the New Rochelle Bayberry community when we first considered were seeking a home in New Rochelle so many years ago ( can't give away my age!). This community was built in the 1950's and there were basically 3 different original styles as described in an original marketing brochure -"The Bayberry Model ( 3 bedrooms, 2 baths) , "The Bayberry Split - either 3 or 4 bedrooms plus a den and 2 baths, and "The Bayberry Expanded Model" which was either a 4 or 5 bedroom home plus a den … (0 comments)

New Rochelle – sister city of La Rochelle, France, celebrates “Bastille Day” today.. The festivities started at 10 am at City Hall with Mayor Bramson, and local Politicians as well as representatives of the Franco American Alliance.

Short speeches were made, National anthems sung, and it was a nice way to continue the sister relationship between the two cities.. Larchmont boasts a very popular French American School, lending to the European flavor (flavour) of the area.

We all know how the squirrels – well, squirrel away for the winter… Whilst walking my pooch, I had noticed how one squirrel (or perhaps a family) were busy taking their nuts into the various open knot holes in the tree featured. Then Sandy visited us, and so many of the branches of the tree fell down, that it was marked for destruction. I would still see the squirrel busying himself, totally unaware of what would eventually be…. Today is the fateful day. As I walking my little pooch at 6 am this morning, I started to reflect on the neighborhood, so quiet and tranquil at that time of day. How could I describe it? The street name is Paine Avenue, New Rochelle 10804... as Thomas Paine once (very briefly) lived here, and was given a cottage as a special thank you from the powers that be after 1776. We even have a Paine Lake.
I used to laugh as there was a time when 2 dentists and 2 endodontists lived on the street at the same time... dentist - "pain''. old joke I know but … (12 comments)

I love writing this post each year... Tomorrow marks Ray Rice day again at the New Rochelle High School's McKenna Field. The event has been sold out for weeks, and will start at 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and there will be games, lunch, instruction, autographs, and fun for youngsters aged between 7 - 13 years of age. The event attracted over 600 youngsters last year, and is always a great success. Ray commented last year " it's a great opportunity to give back." He has already done so much.

I thought I would be getting a day off yesterday and catch up on paperwork and all good things.. but the snowstorm wasn't too much of anything! No appointments were canceled - even had a return trip to a house with mom and dad later in the day.
I had made a big pot of chile the night before (with shaved chocolate.. it is delish).. and at least took some to a friend from the office who was down... not sure if that would pick up her spirits but the thought was there and the beer I took to accompany it!

I read the other week how Alan May loves his new I-Phone 4, and I lost out by a few days and a dead battery!
My Blackberry was a few years old, and tried as hard as I could to keep it 'going' like the EverReady battery, it finally upped and died. Yikes! Living in New Rochelle, 10804 is blooming lovely this time of year, and I have the lavender sachets to prove it! Last year I found great delight in drying out the lavender from my garden, and making lavender sachets for friends and clients alike. It is an easy process, first you let the lavender dry for a few weeks, and then you separate the seeds from the twigs... a few twigs are okay - they smell nice too.... you then add some lavender oil, place into cute bags, and there you have it! Peter Faneuil We all know that there is a Faneuil Hall in Boston, built in 1742 by the wealthy French merchant, Peter Faneuil. Did you know that he was born in New Rochelle on June 20, 1700? His wealthy parents fled France after the 1685 revocation of the Edict of Nantes, and Benjamin Faneuil had traveled to America some 10 years earlier, married Anne Bureau in 1699, and sired three daughters and two sons.

I am sure we all saw the movie "Independence Day" starring Will Smith. Well have you noticed the increasing amount of UFO sightings around the world? There was one a week or so ago in London.... and the "UFO's were seen by quite a few people, different videos, etc.. it is all so strange.. (Rod Serling are you out there? Craig? Anyone?)
I showed my sons, and they then recounted the January, 2011 sighting in Israel over the Dome of the Rock, then the day the airport shut down in Hangzhou, China last year and 17 flights were cancelled.....

My husband was a vet, I have a client who was a vet my father (may he rest in peace, was a Vet) ... I think there isn't anyone amongst us who does not know of someone who has served our country in its time of need.
New Rochelle is honoring our veterans, with a ceremony tomorrow commencing at 10:30 am. at Memorial Plaza, with a parade commencing at 11 am. The parade will travel through Huguenot Street to North Avenue, Pelham Road and into the Hudson Park for a special waterfront ceremony honoring those heroes lost at sea.
