Homeowners who bought their home between January 1 and December 31, 2007 have until March 1, 2008, to file for their Homestead Exemption!
For most new homeowners, you will need to bring a copy of your Recorded Warranty Deed (which should have been mailed to you by your closing attorney, approximately 6 to 8 weeks after your closing date), your driver license and your car's registration. However, it is always a good idea to call the Tax Assessor's Office to make sure you are bringing all of the correct documentation.
