A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Appen Newspapers, the Johns Creek Herald and Reporter Jennifer Chapman who helped us tremendously in promoting our 3rd Annual Trick or Treat for the Troops.
Jennifer wrote a fabulous article for us, which appeared in the weekly paper on Thurday, October 23 - just in time for our collecting days on the 24th and 25th. A number of our donations came from people who stopped by as a result of reading the article in the paper. Click on the photo of the article below to read it!
It's not too late to contribute! Just because … (0 comments)

thank you: Adopt a Soldier Today - Support our Troops! - 04/23/08 07:56 AM
A friend of mine sent me an email yesterday to let me know about a great organization called Soldiers' Angels.
Soldiers' Angels is a "volunteer-led, 501(c)(3) non-profit with the mission "May No Soldier Go Unloved."  We have been providing aid and comfort to American military personnel and their families around the world since 2003." As of right now -- Wednesday, April 23, 2008 -- the site says there are 356 heroes waiting to be "adopted."
You can adopt a soldier or submit the name of a soldier for adoption. In order to adopt a soldier, you must fill out an application and you … (2 comments)

thank you: Our Pilgrimmage to the Post Office | Mailing Care Packages to the Troops | Heartwarming Story from the Post Office! (Part 2) - 11/30/07 07:48 AM
I want to share a heartwarming story from the post office last week.
We were mailing our care packages to the troops from our "Trick or Treat for the Troops" holiday care package drive, and we met three lovely people who made our day.
First, our postal worker was trying to help us decide if we wanted to ship our packages priority or not. It was going to cost substantially more to go priority because most of the boxes were between 40 and 50 pounds. We were pretty sure they would arrive by Christmas, since we were mailing them before Christmas, but we had technically … (4 comments)

thank you: Our Pilgrimmage to the Post Office | Mailing Care Packages to the Troops | A Great Big Thank You! (Part 1) - 11/20/07 07:17 AM
A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to everyone - clients, friends, family, ActiveRainers - who generously donated to our 2nd Annual "Trick or Treat for the Troops"!
(The Gebhardt Group - from left to right: Nancie Torrence, Deirdre Graf, Pam Gebhardt, Maura Gebhardt)
We packed up the boxes last week, with the help of a client and her two daughters who needed community service hours for their school. Then today, with the help of our preferred lender, Jim Scheu of Greater Atlanta Financial Services, we loaded up our cars (and his truck) with 17 very big, very heavy (some over 50 pounds) boxes of … (2 comments)

thank you: Another Way to Say Thanks | Support Our Troops | Thank A Soldier - 10/29/07 02:36 AM
Anyone who reads our blog knows by now that we are active and outspoken supporters of our troops. We believe that, despite one's personal feelings about the war, supporting our brave men and women is not only important but necessary.
Well, here's another way for you and me to support our troops and thank them for their service to our country. And it comes from Xerox:
Simply visit the website LetsSayThanks.com and pick out a thank you card. Xerox will then print it and send it to a soldier currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some … (7 comments)

thank you: Do You Say "Thank You"? - 07/20/07 08:13 AM
Brian Buffini's One Hundred Days to Greatness program encourages agents - new and veteran - to write five (yes, that's 5!) thank you notes a day. He says it's that handwritten personal touch that really sets you apart from others.
(Photo by Howdy, I'm Michael Karshis)
Now 5 a day seems a bit excessive to me. But we thank a lot of people, all day long - today I thanked the barista at Starbucks, the drive-thru operator at Chick-Fil-A, my hairdresser (I thanked her PROFUSELY for the wonderful cut!), my drycleaner, and countless others as I wound my way through town on errands. But … (22 comments)
